Combine Shuttle/Cones ?

Does anyone know whether or not the layout (distances) for the Shuttle and the Cones are the same for ALL positions?

I wanted to compare times for running backs vs. DE, but I don't know if they had to run the same courses.

Ulterior motive -- provide additional rationale for Bengals selecting David Pollack at 17.

Pollacks Shuttle times were better than any of the running backs and only JJ Arrington beat him (by 0.05 sec) in the Cones. :P:lol:B):D

Pollack probably goes before 17 now anyway. But then again, I have to ask, what are we getting if we draft him. I say that because he's not really 6'3 276, He's really 6'2 262 with 30' inch arms. - Now don't get me wrong, he's a hell of a player, but It's hard not to see him more as a OLB maybe strong side, or a Situational pass rusher.

* Is he worth the 17th pick, probably yes, but considering there are guys comparable with better size and credentials, it's probably better we trade down.

But to answer the question about the shuttle drills. The shuttle drills are the same for all athletes, but the individual drills are schemed to what a player is asked to do for his normal position.

i.e. DL had up/down contact drills. - Meaning they had to show acceleration/push and the ability to redirect and do it again within a very short space.

i.e. Running backs had to make a ( cone ) defender miss within 5 yards of the handoff, and then show burst and acceleration. The whole area they are really timed for is about 15-20 yards.

Thanks for the info!

I'm also hoping we can trade down and take advantage of this draft to fill several needs and build some depth.

If we can't trade down, then I like the versatility of Pollack to play as OLB or DE.

BUT, the main reason I like Pollack is his playmaking. IMO he is special and could make some big plays for the Bengals. B)

No problem, You can also check

Nfldraftscout.com or

Insidetheleague.com for all of the current times released from Indianapolis.

QISports may have a great deal of it as well.

* One note, Antrell Rolle CB, Miami Fla. ran today at his pro day in Miami, and was timed at 4.45 - 4.50 in his '40s'.

- He was also very impressive in his position drills as well.

** Haven't heard yet about how well Mosley and Ellison ( DT's from Missouri) did at their prospective pro days today.

Ellison is pretty impressive. I didn't realize he was a DE moved to DT at Mizzou until the combine. The guy played quicker than other DTs at Senior Bowl and his DE experience proly has a lot to do with the line speed he plays at. He seems like a mid-to-late 2nd rounder with Castillo, Mosley, and Babineaux.
