skyline
Living in TN, I've seen Kevin Burnett play quite a bit.I think he'll be a strong player. He's talented, and he seems to have the intensity and work ethic to take his game to the next level. I don't think he'll ever be a star, but more along the lines of a solid, reliable starter. schweinhart
I can't see the Bengals taking Shaun Cody period because his mark will be made as a 3-4 DE.The Bengalszone Draft Guru looks more on target with the 49ers taking Cody w/ the 1st pick in 2nd for Nolan's switch to 3-4 D. The earliest Cody should go IMO is the Chargers at 28.As for Burnett, I seriously doubt he's still there at 48 for Bengals. Again the resident Draft Guru looks more on target w/ Eagles taking him early in 2nd. If Burnett should slip, I can't see the Cardinals not taking him at 47. I also doubt the Bengals will target a weakside backer this year. Strongside or middle seems likelier especially w/ questions looming about the Natester's health and Hardy's cap status and age. bengalsfan33
Yeah, I highly doubt Burnett will still be availible by the time we go with the 48th pick. But if he is still there, Marvin better jump all over this young LB. I don't see us taking Cody, but if we did, I wouldn't mind...
chrishcovga
I'm thinking to get one of those Upper Second Tier elite linebackers i.e.Thurman, Morrison, Ruud, we're gonna need an additional second round pick to do it !..Now here's the question...Can we get that additional 2nd rounder without trading down..?Riddle me this BATMAN...!! The only leverage I see w/o trading down would be Rudi for Seahawks #54 if Alexander ain't tagged or Eagles #63 if they'd rather roll w/ proven NFL runner than draft pick. If the Eagles want Rudi ( which I have forseen with my crystal ball ) Then they gotta offer# 31, # 35 and a 4th ! That should be the equivalent of 2 first rounders. - In reality, the only team that could legitimately come after Rudi is the Eagles. They have the extra picks, and the cap room !If that did happen, then I see our draft going something like this....# 17. Travis Johnson DT, Florida St.# 31. Alex Smith TE, Snanford ( If the Steelers don't grab him at # 30 ) In that case, we'd land a linebacker in either Burnett or Thurman!# 35. Marion Barber III RB, Minnesota# 48. Terrance Murphy Wr, Texas A& M# 83. Chris Spencer C, MississippiNot that I'm wishing we trade Rudi , but I do like that kid Barber alot. If this happens I'll crap a black and orange brick and be glad about it because that group there would push the offense into the top 5 category.I agree about Barber...I got him in 2nd to Raiders at #38.But no one will outbid for Rudi...which would involve the 2 1st rders in exchange. The Bengals can trade him on market terms, which IMO would only land them a late 2nd rd pick...like Dillon but for different reasons.Spencer seems like the ideal choice at C. But I'm guessing the Giants decide to reunite him w/ Eli w/ their 2nd or 3rd pick before the Bengals can get him in the 3rd. Just watching Total Access tape of O'Hara and Lucier trying to block pretty much has got me convinced the Giants will take a C/G early and Spencer has played both positions. chrishcovga
I've been looking at which teams have some serious holes on the offensive lines, I think there are 4 teams that stick out to me.1. Falcons - they give up so many sacks, but I think they're biggest weakness is at the tackle positions.-Guards and Centers seem to do a pretty decent job considering their # 1 ranked run offense.2. Buccaneers - This is our biggest competition I think to grabbing an elite center or guard. Cosey Coleman is probably on the way out, and they have no depth. Don't forget the draft class of '01 Kenyatta Wright busted out completely so Gruden is going to have to take some lineman early and often.3.Giants - O'Hara isn't that bad, I remember Cincy' tried to get him when ML first came on board. But they're tackles and Guard leave something to be desired. I have them landing skill position players first simply because other than Tiki Barber, what do the Giants have on offense ? Toomer has reached " decent " stage. Hilliard has never been anything worth worrying about, and Shockey is injured too much. 4. Bills - Ok make that 2 teams that we're really going to have to compete with ! Maybe it was just Bledsoes' inability to avoid anyone, but most of the pressure came right up the middle. If they go o-line early, it'll be a guard, not a center.
schweinhart
Here's my spin on this:Falcons: 1st. Elton Brown: 2 UFA guards and 1 RFA on roster mark need, plus the Big E can not only grade the road but also move well for somebody that large.2nd. Khalif Barnes T: Be it from right or left takle, Barnes looks like he's ready to disable opponents. Only question now is whether his stock has risen so high that he'll be a 1st rounder.Bucs: 3rd. Wesley Britt T: No depth at position. Deese is ancient and Britt may actually start. 6th Dylan Gandy C/G: 2 UFAs at G w/ 1 starter. Plus backup C needed.Giants: 3rd. Chris Spencer C/G: A big boost for Eli on a messed up O-line.Bills: 2nd. Chris Kemoeatu G: 5th Chris Colmer T: 6th Richie Incognito C. Bills want to make sure Losman has all the protection he can get. I say LJ Shelton will be traded from Zona to Bills for Travis Henry if Bills don't sign LT Jonas Jennings.
