I hope we resign him but you never know. I saw a post earlier about ABe and I mentioned that while I think he is in the top 2 or 3 in the entire NFL at his position, he is hurt too much. Plus he will cost big big bucks. Fergie is underrated and a very solid DT both against the run and getting some pressure in the pocket. He would be much cheaper than Abe and I think DT is as much a need for you as DE. I have a feeling this is a guy you may pursue.

W/ that being said, TJ may be a guy we pursue :D

I'd be happy with any of the Jet's starting D line men...

I like them all but they were all high picks (w/ the exception of Fergie who would have been but got into some pot problems at UGA his senior year). At a certain point, its difficult to afford all of them. Jets are actually $15 mm under the cap but its hard to justify giving big $$ to Abe and Ferguson when Ellis and Robertson have big money and Bryan Thomas, a back-up gets first round money.

This is why I think other teams will have a chance to snatch Fergie away. If its any team, I hope its Cincy b/c as you guys know, I root for them when not rooting for the Jets. He would really be a good addition.

Ferguson like Pat Williams seem like they'll want too much cashola for their age. Both also benefit from playing next to more dominant DTs in D-Rob and Sam Adams.

If ML pursues UFA DT, I'd like to see Marques Douglas partly because he'll fetch less coin than Corey Simon. Maybe Chris Hovan or Seth Payne.

But I'm doubtful ML goes after a DT if Shaun Smith and Terrance Martin look like they can contribute in 2005.
