JPW
Wow what a moron !!!!! I guess he didn`t want to play for the 49`ers ? Well his stock has no where to go but down from where it is now.He certainly can't be rated any higher than he would have been this year. For his sake let's hope he doesn't happen to suffer an Injury next season. EdwardG
When OSU plays USC in the Rose Bowl next year, I hope there isn't a repeat of Will Allen/McGahee.
bengalboomer7
If you read most of his reasons I don't balme the guy, but I could never pass up on millions like that. The NFL is a business, a cutthroat job that is never gauranteed tomorrow. Everyone remembers how great college is, imagine how great it would be if you were a Heisman trophy winner with two national championships. Hell, he's probably carried to classes on the backs of USC fans and students, why not want to be GOD for one more year
EdwardG
Not to mention all the USC coeds he can lay the pipe to.
Kirkendall
I'm happy for Lienart, USC, and the college institution. Perhaps more youngsters will take notice money can wait.
bengalboomer7
I'm not sure about that Kirk, with all those 300+ pound guys chasing him a football career can end at any time. I would have took the money, but can't blame the guy for wanting to stay at USc for the reasons im my earlier post. In this biz you gotta strike while the iron is hot! For all the times a top-five pick chooses to stay in college football, how many cases are there when that top-five pick gets hurt his senior season and loses his football career? The fact he choose to stay really impresses me and his stock may have gone through the roof when he does decide to enter the draft based on his loyalty alone. To me, the love of the game out-weighed the desire for a big payday -- which is still on the way.
bengalboomer7
Excellent point. A can't think of many players off the top of my head, but to make what is probably a bad comparison think about Jason White. I know it didn't happen his senior season and his bowl record speaks for itself but don't think for a sec that those knees of his are hurting his chances(I realize he wouldn't have been a first round pick anyway, so maybe it really is a bad comparison)

jditty47
well every year the market increases 5% so he'll make a bit more next year if he doesnt mess it up somehow.

chrishcovga
The fact of the matter is , is that Leinart just jobbed the San Francisco 49ers. so we gotta like the kid for that reason alone... Regardless, he has another year to fine tune his mechanics, work on his release points, and perhaps show off some athleticism, because he's kind of statuesque. He'll probably still be the first player taken in the '06 draft.
