Diesel
Who had the worst decade in the 90s as a fan - the Bengals or the Bills fans?Obviously, the Bengals were MUCH worse through the decade. But I couldn't imagine watching my team lose 4 times in a row in the SuperBowl. That has to get very disheartening. At least as a Bengals fan I didn't have to get let down so much as I just came to accept that we sucked after a while.
Player6600
We had one of the best teams in the 90s it was a pleasure to watch such great football.
Diesel
Clearly you did. However, losing in the Superbowl year after year had to suck. I finished 2nd in state in high school 3 times in a row. By the third one, I was not happy to be one of the best players in the state anymore. It just sucked. gr8slayer
Its better to get to the SB and lose four times than not get to the SB at all.
jditty47
we've done it twice...i hope u were just talking about the 90's.
Dan2330
Being a Bengals fan, I would say that we had the worst of the 90's. I would rather get to the SB then go through the hell we went through as fans of what became the worst franchise for any major sports during that long dreadful decade. Imagine what Eagles fans are going to be thinking if they make the NFC Championship game again for the fourth year in a row and lose again- now that would be worse than the Bills SB collapses. San Antonio Bengal
The Bengals had the worst 90s. I would rather get into the playoffs and not win it all than be stuck in a constant rut of knowing that you're team wasn't even going to be competitive. If you're not competitive, you loose a lot of the enjoyment of game, or at least I did. There was a stretch from 1978 to 1996 when Kentucky didn't win any championships in basketball. There were times when we made it to the final four, but didn't win. The state would be in a Big Blue Funk for about a month, but then we start talking about recuiting and gear up for the next season. There was always a certain level of excitement because you knew that the team was good and there was a legitimate chance each year. There were a lot of enjoyable games even if we didn't win it all. I really can't say there were very many enjoyable games or much excitement for the Bengals of the 90s.

Mike Brown almost left you unable to compete in the NFL and you were the laughing stock of the NFL for many years. Were the four superbowl losses terrible, oh yes, but then again nobody is going to ever go to four straight superbowls ever again. We basically took the nohuddle that your team, under Boomer Esiason, started and perfected it. So the Bengals definitely had the worse decade. Finally someone giving credit where it is properly due. Thank you.And yes I would take four Super Bowl losses anyday compared to the BS we have endured. Because on the way to those four losses were a lot of wins and successful seasons.
Diesel
Fair enough. I just want to point out that I was not comparing the teams of the 90s but the fans experiences. A lot of people in Cincinnati just went on with their lives and ignored the NFL during those years, so it wasn't like they were pissed off every week that they sucked. Buffalo fans had a lot more emotionally invested and were let down more imo.

Plus we had legends that we could cheer for such as Marv Levy, Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith, Cornellius Bennett, Darryl Talley etc so while those superbowls were heart breaking we cheered and always believed that the next year we could go back and have another crack at that trophy. Your fans, on the other hand, were screwed over by management that could not get good players together to build a winning team and could never get a competent head coach or a good organization. I blame Mike Brown. I mean you had Pickens, Scott, Dillon and yet you could get nothing done and then you had an organization that couldn't build around these players. I mean during the mid 1990s you had some great offenses built around Pickens, Scott, and Blake but could never get over 8-8. In the early 1990s you traded away Boomer and for reasons unknown picked up Dave Klingler. Then there was Akili Smith, and their was also KiJana Carter. Frankly you just had so many bad breaks that Riverfront Stadium rarely had a sell out.
