jamesbrooks21
I cannot believe a Bengal fan, or a Bungle fan in your case Barbarian, would even think about defending Corey Dillon. Oh, and you shouldn't lose your starting spot to injury? You don't have to look any further than Dillon's Patriots to know that is total bulls**t. That is why Drew Bledsoe never got his job back from Tom Brady.

jamesbrooks21
i defend dillon. no sense in beating a dead horse though. The bottom line is that he is a selfish player who would rather be in the spotlight than have his team win. He was outplayed last year by Rudi and he couldn't stand it. That's why the cocksucker lasted until we drafted in the second round, he is a first round talent but his attitude is s**t. I love how everyone points out how he is such a team player this year when everything is going good. Just give it some time and he will blow up again. slf
Corey Dillon is a gifted athlete with defective character. If you recall he dropped to the second round because of concerns about his personality in spite of his demonstrated ability. While he stayed out of serious trouble, his character flaws made him unpopular here. The Patriots were a good place for him to land, he can stay out of the spotlight, keep his mouth shut and do what he does best.

Yeah didn`t Tommy Maddox get hurt and that`s why Roethlisberger got to start ?I`m sure Maddox will never see the field again unlessRoethlisberger gets hurt. Brett Farve came in because of an injury to Don Majkowskiin 1992. I don`t think Majkowski ever got his starting job back did he ? So much for that theory Gonad the Barbarian. BengalBax
Pay attention ? Yeah I did. I paid attention that this is a TEAM GAME.And Dillon has done NOTHING for this city or this TEAM but bitch and moan. (No wonder he`s your hero...you bothare worthless )LMAO @ Old Wooler. He's just pissed that the Bungles' Career Leading Rusher is named Dillon.Give it a rest, man. All Dillon wanted to do is WIN. Now, he's got his mouth shut and winning football games, now isn't he???What did Dillon do for the Bungles and Cincinnati??? Man, how fast you forget, bra. Stop watching MTV with your 30-second attention span.Dillon ran HARD for Cincy in his 6 years--or did you forget every year that he was here, that he had 1,000 yards. And behind THAT Offensive Line?????Yeah, that truly IS great stuff. You`re a clueless moron.Dillon HAD to shut his mouth and play ball or his career was OVER ! Get it ? Of course you don`t Gonad. He wanted to win huh ? Oh so I guess being 8-6 and leading the division in December isn`t counted as winning ? I guess it was only counted as winning if HE was getting the ball ? THAT Offensive line is the SAME Offensive line that Rudi ran for150 yards in 3 games. SOMETHING Dillon NEVER DID while he was a Bengal. But looks at where he is, a celebrated back right now. NO ONE gives a $hit about Rudi Johnson except all of us "fans" who magically believe he is the second coming of Christ. Dillon is CHEWING HIM UP. Another 4-6 season is Cincy, another great season is NE. Congrats Corey, you deserve it!

And I don`t think any1 is acting like Rudi is the 2nd coming. He is the "anit-Leon". He is a team player and says all the right things. After having a LEON McDILLON on the team for YEARS it was a refreshingchange to see the opposite. I used to root for Corey Dillon. He is and was a hell of a talent. But I didn`t root for him because of his charming fan friendly personality.I rooted for him because of the UNIFORM he wore. :player: HE chose to take that uniform off and throw into the stands. He acted like a little kid that was pissed and going to take hisball and go home. WELL GOOD RIDDANCE !!!!I`d rather have a WINNING TEAM than a PRO BOWL PLAYERthat only cared about WINNING if he was getting the ball. The_Next_Big_Thing
YOU DON'T LOSE YOUR JOB TO AN INJURY, BRA. Leon didn't lose his job to an injury, oh great and wise wearer of the BRA and the Girdle and the ugly ass facial hair. He lost the job to a bad attitude, not practicing hard, acting like a general Barbarian uh I mean jackass, and not playing TEAM ball. Rudi WON the job by being a part of the team, doing everything that was asked of him with a positive attitude, and by NOT acting like you. There is an exception to this rule--when a player is defined as being "over the hill" or has "totally lost respect of his teammates".Drew Bledsoe could be looked at as being 2 for 2 here.Tom Brady and Bret Favre (as mentioned in another post) were the future of their respective clubs. Dillon obviously (as I have mentioned before) still has gas in the tank and his truly a better RB than Rudi overall.
bengalsfan33
All I can say is we got Madieu(70tackles 2 INT 1 TD) and Rudi who has 1000 yards, so I don't miss Corey one bit. Now, at first I didn't like the trade for a second round pick, but it's really paid off...

The_Next_Big_Thing
An announcer during the Pats game did say that while Dillon was a great move for the Patriots, the trade was a good move for Cincinnati who got Williams, "a young superstar in the making at a position of need". kingwilly
I am not going to bag on Corey Dillon. Dillon was a very simple guy. He wanted to win. When the Bengals did not win, he took it so personally his bitterness ruined the core of the team. While a huge talent, he seemed, to me, to be an immature person from the standpoint of how to deal with people. He was so jaded when Marvin got to Cincy, he was a lost cause. Such a shame, really. He should have gotten out back when his contract was renegotiated. I will say that I enjoyed watching him over the years and he was about the one bright spot, performance-wise, on many otherwise terrible Bengal teams. I was at the game in 97' when he destroyed Houston for the rookie rushing record. That was awesome, Hall of Fame type stuff. At Foxboro last night it was vintage Dillon versus the Ravens. Stiff-arming the bejesus out of DB's and running into anyone in his way. It put a smile on my face to see him run over Ray-Ray for a score late in the game. There was an interesting fact about RB's that changed teams who have made the most impact. Dillon, so far, has made the biggest impact out of those RB's.

jjakq27
Corey has shown many of us that he is still durable and has the skills to be considered a top 5 back in the NFL. However, keeping him here would not have been the wise thing to do. Like TKO Spikes, who preceded Dillon outta here, his mind was made up and did not buy into what Marvin was selling.I think Madieu will be a good player for this team for a number of years. As far as Rudi, he has to be considered a dilema at best. Do you sign him for big bucks? Is Perry going to show you anything this year? Do you let Rudi go and draft another RB? Does some of this hinge on whether Bratkowski is back next year? I am not sure what the answer is. But don't look now but Rudi is less than 100 yards behind Corey. BengalByTheBay
I, for one, would never think that I could say what makes CD tick. I do think he wanted to win. I also think he got tired of being the best player on a team that was considered a joke. I also think he decided about 12 months after he resigned for 5 years that he had made a mistake. To all appearances he didn't want to drink the Marvin Lewis cool-aid. I do not think he was going to stay here regardless of whatever else happened last year. He absolutely cannot share carries with another decent back. I don't think the Bengals planned on him getting hurt (because he never had) or planned on Rudi breaking out (I would've bet that Bennett would have had a better shot at doing so myself). It became painfully obvious that he had to be traded. Oakland wanted him for a 3rd rounder. We were able to trade him for a 2nd though. Although a minor one -- that was a victory of sorts for us. It certainly could've been worse. If we cut him prior to camp then the Bengals would've been the morons who cut a probowler and got nothing in return. The Pats had everything to gain and nothing to lose by grabbing him. No way he would be worse than Antowain Smith -- even last season you could still see flashes of CD's talent. It was pretty shortsighted of Oakland to hold out for a 3rd -- think of how they could've used him this season. It's not so much a case of the Pats being genius again as much as the rest of the league just being stupid. Think he would've done pretty well in SF, Arizona, Dallas, Oakland, Tampa Bay?!?!?!The media is going to look at the simple and obvious story -- CD is burning it up in Boston. Truth is, he's not playing any better for them than he used to play for us. Newsflash league -- he's a real good back. But since we could not keep him we got the best we could for him. Nobody was offering a first rounder, nobody. The running game has been remarkably similar now that he's gone. Some big games -- some games where the offense as a whole has disappeared for long stretches. We are fortunate that the 2nd rounder we got for him looks to be a standout at a position of need for, oh about 12 years or so. I think the Bengals ended-up okay on this one. And I think that's a reasonable conclusion whether CD goes to the Pro Bowl, wins a SuperBowl (which would hardly be due to him alone), or is elected Mayor of Boston. I don't think you need to say CD sucks -- even if you hated his attitude -- to still be a Bengals fan.

Forget his ass, dont worry, move on, the past is over with.

chrishcovga
I really don't see the need for the debate here.! Corey had his run here, was a superb back for us, got hurt, we found a gem in Rudi, Corey had the opportunity to move on, we benefited from the trade, and Rudi got to 1000 yards before Corey Dillon did..So what's the problem..?? ----If and I do say IIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFF , Chris Perry ever develops into a backup like Deshon Foster or into another " James Brooks " ( super big if ) , but we'll have a dominant running game for the next 6 years !!!
