LesterLyles
Vinny Testaverde!. An exceptional athlete who can light you up any given daybut a guy doesn't quite have the moxie (as some posters said) and will kill you with stupid decisions down the stretch. With that being said, Vinny was able to play at a very good level later in his career and if you give him a runing game and WRs, he will be very successful. schweinhart
I was hoping you were going to say he reminds you of Penny But I'd rather see a Vinny than an Akili
skyline
Let's give him some more time before we write him off as a qb that makes bad decisions down the stretch.
jamesbrooks21
Let's give him some more time before we write him off as a qb that makes bad decisions down the stretch. Yeah really. Everyone has judged him and wrote him off after just 7 games.
BengalPappaw
Folks -- Hang in there!!! Carson is going through the same learning process he did at USC. His first year the interceptions where about double the TDs. Then his last year he seemed to understand what needed to be done and he was awesome!! He was able to march his team for last minute TDs. His TD/Int. was spectacular -- something like 26/4 during one 6 game stretch. I was hoping he was getting to that later stage earlier than he did at USC -- but I guess things aren't quite there -- yet! I really believe he is going to be impressive, when he gets this learning process over. AND, obviously, he learns better when he is playing than standing on the sidelines. So, I guess, us impatient Bengals Fans, will have to wait a little longer.

Palmer is NOTHING like Vinny!!!!!! Palmer has a cannon for an arm. Vinny can't throw anything beyond 20 yards. You're talking about apples and oranges here. My god, Billy. Did I just compliment a Bungle Player???? I must be losing it!
PA_
palmer reminds me of a young QB that has alot of upside but is getting destroyed more mentally than physically(at the moment) like Tim Couch...
chrishcovga
I'll stick to my guns on Palmer, and say he still reminds me of a young Troy Aikman. Good vision, strong arm, very confident in the pocket. * As for his decision making, it's been right on. - He's going the right place with the ball time and time again, however 1. Dropped passes2. Rounded off routes ( Kelley Washington ) 3. inconsistent running game4. Lack of Peter Warrick-- are what's killing this offense. Chad Johnson is getting open, that's for sure, but for our offense to click we have to be able to know we're going to get 4-5 yards everytime our running backs touch the ball. * One of the goals of this offense this year was hope that teams would play 8 and 9 in the box not to stop Rudi, but to force Palmer into short throws and confuse him with numerous Blitzes! - Well teams have done that, but not because of their own efforts, it's because the play calling has been so scripted, it often times looks as though I'm watching a " B " rated horror movie than a football game. schweinhart
At least the fake reverse/reverse isn't getting run 5 times a game any more They never did let CP fake to Rudi and WR then throw.
LesterLyles
He's more like Aikaman than Pennington, that is for sure. Pennington is nowhere near the physical specimen that Palmer is in terms of arm, mobility etc. Pennington, IMO at least, is the smartest QB in the NFl and is very posied. When I said testaverde Imeant the post Tampa Testaverde and that essentially is a good thing. A few probowls, some playoff appearances. Knowing palmer and college and what I see, I just think their will be times he'll break your hreat but I do believe he will win a lot of games. walzav29
Vinny had the record at the QB challenge with a 80 yard throw. Carson had 65. By no means is that what defines a good QB, but Teste has a cannon arm.
schweinhart
I was thinking accurate wise by comparison. The Bengals CP can thread a serious needle. Jets CP is ungodly precise w/ uncanny touch. Just watching the TD throws to Chrebet and McCareins on MNF was things of beauty -- absolutely perfect throws.Hopefully, Carson watched Chad last night and saw him take off running when no one was open for longest gain of career. Carson hasn't slid yet this year and has only run like 4 times out of bounds. Maybe he saw Chad keep the D honest w/ that run and see how bigtime QBs can make big time plays w/ legs too, even when they are pocket passers.
