Palmer

Reading through all of the press today, it's funny to me how little attention is being paid to Carson Palmer. I understand that Chad had a huge game, and there were big defensive plays, etc.

Still, there was such a huge stink before the game from everywhere about whether or not Carson should be the starter. A lot of the voices were saying no...I'd like to see a few of them respond to what they saw last night (*ahem* Michael Irvin!).

Hey Bax, what did you think of Carson's performance. Doesn't he look alot better when he's got some help on the defensive side of the ball?

Good for Carson...

I would though like to see a lot less throwing off of the back foot. I see him underthrowing a lot of receivers doing this so much, but some of that blame goes to the blitz pickup...

Who-Dey!

Other than a slight mis-throw on the Champ INT, he looked pretty precise. I like that they used the shotgun to gain an extra second during blitz downs. He did underthrow both long connections to Chad and the pass interference play to TJ. Granted, the TD pass, Champ was still on the turf, so no biggie, but he has to hit Chad in stride. The more time together the better the timing will be. The other long pass completion he threw off his back foot because there was no where to step up to, so that was a pure arm-strength pass.

All in all, he looked good, there were a few drops but more time to gel will clear that up, remember it took Kitna almost 3 years to get all on the same page...

Palmer look good, not great. Chad was all alone on the TD pass. His slant pass to Chad in the red zone was costly, Champ ate him up there. Rookie mistake, no biggie.

Guys please, i want Palmer to succeed. It's just I do NOT believe he is our best quarterback. Will he be in teh future? Absolutely. BUT RIGHT NOW NO.

I saw him make some good throws, he is progressing. Let's see what happens next week.

He just needs a good OL!

are you retarded? seriously. that was the dumbest thing i have read all season. We have a very good OL. mb even great OL once they play more together. They are finally HEALTHY and intact, thats is why we had an inconsistent OL.

I'm actaully kinda annoyed with palmer, more then half his passes have gone to chad johnson, at times it seems to me he is missing other wr's that are wide open.

but then again attimes i see him looking at other wr's and johnson is streaking down field pleading for the ball, which he did a damn good job of getting him the ball monday night.

Palmer is definitely progressing. But by putting more pressure on him by not having an decent running attack at times is not the best answer. I think Rudi had only 36 yards rushing before he finally busted one outside for the touchdown. I would rather have Palmer stay in and learn the speed and reads of the defense, then to let Kitna come back in. Don't get me wrong, Kitna had a great year last year, but something tells me it was a one time thing. Just me maybe.

Also, Palmer got hit a lot early in the game. The Bronco defense figured out the could rattle him by blitzing every 3rd down. I was so frustrated watch him line up under center and seeing the 3 line backers walk up to the line and blitz right through. They did this about 6 times in a row. <_< I think the shotgun should be used a little more so he can get better reads on the D, not to mention and extra second to thwart the blitz. :D

Palmer played alright, and that's all I expect from him. He is still throwing off his back foot a lot. The second bomb to Chad was underthrown due to this and Bailey was able to run him down. Not sure if he threw off his back foot due to pressure or not. Anyway, I don't want CP to WIN games for us, just not LOSE them. So far he's been fine and just what I expected. If they keep him to 25 or fewer throws per game this team will be ok (maybe I can even take my prediction back up to 8-8!! nah!)

The interception wasn't a rookie mistake, it was an EXCELLENT play by a top 5 cornerback. It was a play that has happened to guys like Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Joe Montana, and every good QB in the league. It was a mistake, not a rookie mistake.
