jjakq27 Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 I read that the Raiders are looking to move Jerry Rice. It said that Detroit was interested since Steve Mariucci was a coach at SF while Rice was there. I would love to see Rice end up here. We should have had him in 1985 but we selected Eddie Brown instead. Imagine the pearls of wisdom he could share with Chad Johnson and the other receivers and even Palmer. I would have no problem with the Bengals trying to get Rice even though we need help on defense. Quote
skyline Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 Meh. I'm sure it would make Chad happy, though Quote
BengalBobNC Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 No.Allow me to repeat that....NO!Rice is w-e-l-l past his prime. We need more help elsewhere right now. Quote
Barbarian Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 No.Allow me to repeat that....NO!Rice is w-e-l-l past his prime. We need more help elsewhere right now. Double repeat. NO!!!!!He's so past his prime that he drops more passes than Todd Pinkstonehands of the Philly Eagles. Quote
bengalsfan33 Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 No, were just fine at receiver with Washinton, CJ, and Warrick. We also got Houshsfksfhikshdf who doesn't done that bad. Quote
Bengal_Smoov Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Jerry Rice is the best wr to ever play this game. He would be an asset to have in a Bengal uniform. Quote
Staticx682004 Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 No we don't need the cap hit........ Quote
BengalsOwn Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Jerry Rice is the best wr to ever play this game. He would be an asset to have in a Bengal uniform. No he wouldn't. He is being traded because he wants to get the ball more. That's a distraction to the team. But I bet you absolutely hate Corey Dillon... Quote
williamnminor Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 Yeah, why would we need another receiver. Its not like Peter Warrick is hurt or anything. Its not like his shin isn't worse than anyone in the organization is saying. Its not like thats screwing up Chads season so far.Why would the Bengals ever want a chance at the best receiver of all time. Quote
jamesbrooks21 Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 did rice start playing safety? that's the only way we would take him. there is a reason he isn't getting much run anymore. we defintely don't need him. Quote

Its not like thats screwing up Chads season so far.Why would the Bengals ever want a chance at the best receiver of all time. We have youth on our side right now, and let's face facts; at the rate this team is playing, we wont come close to the playoffs this year. If that's the case, then let the young guys get a majority of the snaps so we can see where we stand in the 2005 season. Rice isn't the future, he's the greatest receiver of all time, but if the Raiders -- who combined have a worse receiver corp than the Bengals -- cut him, what makes anyone think the money, time, effort is going to be worth it? However, Chad has stated multiple times that Rice is his idol and if we remember correctly, didn't Chad go right up to Rice during half-time of the Oakland game last year to talk about receiving?I guess the only way I could see the Bengals logistically picking up Rice is if he becomes a mentor to Chad. Even though, what's the trade worth? A third round pick and a running back? We all know they need RBs and we have a few of them... Quote
