JPW
From Hobson's Choice :"You’re not the only in Bengaldom pondering McKenzie.....Flat out, you can’t do McKenzie for football and business reasons. Football wise, you can’t do it because you’ve got your two veteran cornerbacks in Deltha O’Neal and Tory James, and you drafted their backups in the second round. Financially, you’d have to cut the rookies because you couldn’t cut the veterans with the acceleration into the salary cap. McKenzie is going to cost you $3.5 to $4 million per year and there is no team in this league that has three highly-paid corners. OK, those who think Tory James is a third corner, fine, but third corners don’t make $3 million a year."Is there anyway that The Bengals could package Tory James (and his $3 million a year) with a draft pick or two for McKenzie ? Problem with trading vets is that you get hit with their cap penalty just like cutting them. That's what makes trades so hard. I can't wait for all the dead money to come off of the cap at the end of the year.
Chucktkd
Making trades this time of year, especially major ones, is either desparation or a possibillity of going to the SB. The Bengals are not desparate and are a long shot at the SB.
