wookie
The Bengals also claimed two college free agents off the waiver wire in Arizona veteran Marcus Wilkins and Pittsburgh rookie Allen Augustin to re-stock their depleted linebacker corps. Both figure to play in Friday night’s preseason finale against the Colts at Paul Brown Stadium. In order to make room for them, the Bengals waived defensive tackle Derrick Crawford and injured guard-center Thatcher Szalay (wrist). If Szalay clears waivers, he becomes the eighth Bengal to go on season-ending injured reserve.I dunno...Wilkins sounds like he can be a ST replacement for Abdullah, not sure about the rookie FA. He played at Florida State as a walk-on, sounds like he has a passion for the game...but I'll be surprised if he lasts through the final cuts.Lets just hope Simmons is ready soon!! LABengalsFan09
I like the Wilkins pickup, wpouldn't mind seeing them claim Nathaniel Adibi from the Steelers @DE. He was their 5th round draft pick and could've been wrong for their system.... 3-4 DE's have to almost be hybrid tackles in those alignments. Maybe he is a speed rushing 4-3 DE. kevnz
Just to update, Thatcher Szalay cleared waivers and was placed on the Bengals Injured Reserve so he's still part of the team. Patrick Johnson has reached an injury settlement and can be signed by the team in December, but is free to sign with any team but the Bengals before then.
