Do you need any further proof of the power of superstition ??

2-1 Reds win with Cozart (yeah I said it Cozart) tying the game with an RBI single and Votto with a solo shot to put the Reds up 2-1.

Cingrani went 6.1 innings, striking out 9 with Parra, LeCure, Broxton, and Chapman holding on for the win.

It was just like old times seeing this team win a close one with good pitching and Votto hitting a dinger.

I'm telling you, it's amazing what Broxton looks like when he's healthy.

Best part ?? The Cards beat the Pirates again and the Reds are now just 2.5 back.

Yep, we're inching a little closer in every day it seems.

We need to take care of business now, because we have a brutal stretch coming up:

Cardinals - 3 (away)

Rockies - 3 (away) - I know they have a losing record, but they've beaten up on some good teams this year, and I'd far prefer to play them at home.

Cardinals - 4 (home)

Dodgers - 3 (home)

And, that doesn't count the series against the Diamondbacks coming up next.

Indeed. This team needs to figure itself out and quick.

As happy as I am with the way they are playing right now, I won't pretend the hitting is where it needs to be.

They have struggled and gotten by. While that's good now, I can't see that lasting.

Great game last night.

Right up until Chapman gives up a 2 run, walk off homer.

Reds drop another game back and miss the chance to move into 2nd place as the Cards got pounded by the Cubs.
