cincyhokie
Was looking at the pre-draft grades on NFL.com. Based on their grades:Kirkpatrick was the 20th overall player. Picked 17th. -3Zeitler was the 37th overall player. Picked 27th. -10Still was the 49th overall ranked player. Picked 53rd. +4Sanu was the 75th overall ranked player. Picked him 83rd. +8Thompson was the 44th overall ranked player. Picked him 93rd. +49Charles was the 81st overall ranked player. Picked him 116th. +35Prater was the 158th overall ranked player. Picked him 156th. -2Jones was the 100th overall ranked player. Picked him 166th. +66Iloka was the 108th overall ranked player. Picked him 167th. +59Herron was the 242nd overall ranked player. Picked him 191st. -51If the NFL.com grades have any value whatsoever:The best pick was Marvin Jones. Iloka, Thompson, and Charles get honorable mentions.Kirkpatrick, Zeitler, Still, Sanu, and Prater were all taken right around where they should have been.Herron was a bad pick. It's odd to me how Jones fell as far as he did, even getting past the Bengals in the 4th. Then again Charles fell too. But with Jones, EVERYWHERE I've read it's been nothing but high praise for this "sure handed, smooth route running, fast" WR. What gives? ArmyBengal
From everything i've seen, Jones threw people off because they just couldn't figure out why he didn't produce more than he did and didn't want to take the chance on him. I really can't figure that out, because anyone that bothers to watch college football and caught even a single California game, would have seen just how poor the QB play was there. Can't confirm this, but thought I read where he had three different freshmen QB's in 3 of his seasons there. If that is in fact the case, what's so hard to figure out ??I call it a steal plain and simple and think he surprises a lot of people this season along with Sanu. DC_Bengals_Fan
I'll go for the WR who was recruited to play S in college. Gotta be Sanu for me.Honestly, I can't wait to see him support the running game.

Sea Ray
Here's a really good article on why this writer considered Marvin Jones the #4 WR in this draft:/>http://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2012/04/14/rankings-insight-for-this-years-wr-class/#more-4726My apologies if this has already been linked on Bengalszone but I found it very interesting as it was written before the draft

Sea Ray
I loved Childs as well and he was my "pimped player" for 2012.Interesting that Childs was picked way before Marvin Jones (by Minn)We'll see how this all works out but it'd be incredible if we stole the #4 WR in the 5th rd. That's how you build a 53 man team
ArmyBengal
I loved Childs as well and he was my "pimped player" for 2012.Interesting that Childs was picked way before Marvin Jones (by Minn)Seriously, Childs was just getting over his injury he suffered at the end of the 2010 season and there were many accounts about how that Arkansas team that did so well, was less about the dumbass QB the Pats drafted (can't remember his name) and more about the ability of Childs. That being said, I can't and certainly won't complain about the WR's we got. I just think Childs will be a solid WR at a minimum.LOVING our WR's for this coming season !!!
