combatbengal
I finally got to see my Bengals win the Super Bowl ! Well on Madden 11 that is. And let me tell you that this was the best madden super bowl yet. I took the Bengals to a 15-1 record and beat the Saints in the Super Bowl by three points. When the game ended, confetti came down, our players were cheering. Coach Lewis got the Gatorade shower and the Saints left the field with their heads down. Then R. Goodell presented the Trophy to Lewis and he handed it to Palmer. After that, they showed our players in sweats going through the city in a victory parade. Then after that, they showed the team at the White House and President Obama was presented a Bengals jersey with his name on it. It was a totally awesome ending to the game. I know this is only fantasy land but I have to have something!!!

HairOnFire
I should confess that I too have joined the ranks of thumb jockeys, having recently purchased a game system at the request of my beloved WifeOnFire, who said she wanted to play Call of Duty, but never actually does. Regardless, at the time I purchased the system I also purchased the only game I could ever see myself playing, Madden 11. Because it's football, right? Well, in the two months since I've played Madden just 8 times, always against the computer and always as the Bengals. My record in those 8 games was an undefeated 8-0, including a 117-10 thrashing of the Raiders the last time I played. During this game Cedric Benson and I apparently set a new NFL single game rushing record of 413 yards on 53 carries. Benson and I also set a new single game scoring record with 8 TD's scored...plus two 2-point conversions scored for a combined total of 52 points. Furthermore, as a newbie thumb warrior I've also managed to produce a 600 yard passing game with Palmer, a 230 yard receiving game for Reggie "f**king" Kelly, and last but certainly not least....a 117 yard day for Jerome "Big Hands" Simpson despite just 3 receptions. (He flat out dropped a 50-yarder on attempt #4) Nutshelled, I now find the whole Madden thing to be boring as hell after just 8 games. Making matters worse, in the two months my wife has only played Call of Duty/Modern Warfare one time, never making it past the rope descent in the first practice mission. As for the warrior named Hair, in my only attempt I kept trying to frag my fellow troops and became slightly enraged when the game wouldn't let me shoot the guy handing out ammo at the shooting range. That said, using my skills as a knife fighter I killed the s**t out of an enemy watermelon before becoming so bored I began to weep at the thought of the money I had just wasted. As I feared, masturbating with my thumbs just isn't my thing.

Killing WWII era "Krauts" was alot more satisfying than trying to kill indigenous guerilla soldiers, in my opinion. I found myself much more focused on saving the free world in MOH than what was waiting for me at the KBR staffed buffet as I returned to base in COD. Just my opinion. jjakq27
Yep, that was it. It's awesome!!Like I told Billy at the time, the Saints were founded a year before the Bengals and had a worse history than we did yet last year they did what many thought was impossible. Keep the faith.

I found myself much more focused on saving the free world in MOH than what was waiting for me at the KBR staffed buffet as I returned to base in COD. Just my opinion. I don't think it matters what type of fake warriors I'm supposed to kill. I'm simply not patient enough to learn the controller skills needed to make playing worthwhile. Madden, to it's credit, was fun to play right out of the box even when I didn't know how to call a timeout, make kicks go straight, or a million other things I could mention. Granted, I got bored with it almost immediately, in part because of it's ease of play, but that's a different matter. But playing Call of Duty without controller skills is just a miserable unrewarding experience and I'm not the type that's going to spend hours learning which button will turn some fake guys head into a cloud of red mist. In short, the worlds newest gamer has already gone AWOL and most definately won't be saving the world anytime soon.
rwalling
Other things you'll only see on Madden: Carson making good timeout decisions, TO going over the middle/up for a ball in traffic, Andre Smith relevant...
combatbengal
I'm with you on the war games and controls. My kids can master those skills in no time but I get frustrated and just quit playing. Now, Madden, I love to play. Been playing for years!!You should try Medal of Honor. I don't play Madden often, but when I do, it's online. Otherwise, results like Hair is talking about come too often because of the predictability of the video game ai. HairOnFire
Other things you'll only see on Madden: Carson making good timeout decisions, TO going over the middle/up for a ball in traffic, Andre Smith relevant... Funny, but the only reason I bothered finding out how to call a timeout was because I was tired of losing yardage when the Bengals lined up in the wildcat...the only formation I couldn't successfully audible from. Plus, Owens isn't on my Bengal roster, but Antonio Bryant is....and he dominates in the Redzone. Admittedly that's true in part because whenever I get near the endzone I freeze Chad out simply so I don't have to see his silly post TD celebration. Yeah, that's right. I'm a Chad hater even in Madden.

Sadly, as boring as Madden seemed to me after only a few games I enjoyed it more than all of the other games I've got. And again, that's because you can play a game like Madden at an acceptable level instantly even if you lack thumb masturbation skills. But playing a game like Call of Duty requires a much higher level of controller skills to be rewarding/fun....and I'm just not interested or committed enough to work at something like that. However, on a more positve note....my wife practically begged for a gaming system for her birthday and having provided her with one now provides me with yet another example where I've spent hundreds of dollars on something she'll never actually use. And I can use that.
Arizona
Try playing Madden at all madden level and see how boring it is. Of course it is boring when it is set to rookie. I have to scratch and claw to win games at all madden and I've been playing madden for years and years. Also, Netflix streaming is a super added value in these consoles. So your advice for brand new gamers is to set Madden at expert level almost immediately....so that the game doesn't suck as much? That said, I appreciate the advice and admit freely I had no idea you could amp things up. I'll give it a try.
