Crazy thought from JT

Most of the former players have good things to say about the Brown family, much to my surprise.

Well, that's the other side of Mikey. I get the feeling that he's really a good guy. Hell, he's the Redeemer, right? When it comes down to how he treats people, as you say, the reports are all good.

Now in terms of the actual organization, former players have derided the facilities. So Shayne's comments in that respect aren't out of line with what's often said, though his are certainly laced with some sour grapes. I don't know how much his comments were expected to be a contrast, but if he was suggesting that Mikey treats people bad that's likely out of line.

If Mikey hired a GM to make football decisions and just focused on being the elder statesman, he could be a great owner.

IIRC Shayne's main beef with the team is that they didn't sign him to a multi-year contract to be one of the league's highest paid kickers. The fact that he's currently in the fight of his life to make the Ravens' roster (and reportedly fighting a wicked hook that nearly took out the GM at the water cooler) pretty much validates the Bengals' take on his value doesn't it? If not this year, probably next, he's going to be starting the next stage of his life and it's pretty mis-directed to blame the Bengals for not having signed him to a contract that - it now appears - there would be nearly 0 chance of him having played out. So, while I'm not going to say he's a bad guy or anything, or that his comments even really were anything other than saying the right thing about the Rats, I would think he'd be better off to shy away from blasting on the Bengals organization.

Of course. I was a moderate Shayne supporter for years, but after the playoffs it was clearly time to see him go. And certainly he over-played his hand and paid for it. He had been one of the most accurate FG kickers in the NFL and wanted to be paid accordingly. But, that's a gamble and he lost when it became clear that he's a choker.

No doubt. I'd at least have kept me mouth shut until I had the job for sure. However, the question (in my mind) isn't one of motivation but of accuracy. He can be right and a d*ck at the same time. Whether that's the case is another story.

F*CK YOU SHAYNE !!!

Perhaps we should all tread lightly on this one. Because somewhere under that mane of gorgeous red/orange hair BengalSiS has a huge pair of......rabbit ears.

Meh.

It was a hypothetical "F*CK YOU" and can't be offensive because the premise is unsubstantiated.

Thanks Derek...

The whole:

If they were, it's a pretty standard response:

Should be enough to stave off much irritation over the expletive mentioned, because if they weren't, then I have no issue...

True that. There have been no shortage of swipes at the Bengals by former players on new teams (although it seems to now be a trickle compared to the former deluge). Some carry more credibility than others, however. At this point, Shayne comments draw a mere "meh." Not only do his skills appear to be degenerating, but he is, after all, a kicker.
