blueridge Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 The news that the Bengals are bringing in Pitta for a visit is really interesting to me. Although the guy is not known as a blocker, he may be the best receiving TE in this draft. Not the biggest guy, but plenty big enough and strong enough to play the position. He would be a tremendous weapon in the passing game. However, in view of all the talk about any Bengals TE having to be able to block well, I wonder what's behind their interest in Pitta? My guess is that the Bengals plan to draft a TE on day 2,and that the TE they draft will be taken primarily with an eye to providing Carson Palmer with another big receiving option to go along with Chase Coffman, not to mention Darius Hill and/or Matt Jones.Maybe Brat's reworking of the passing game playbook has, as one of its purposes, placing a new (and welcome) emphasis on throwing to the TE? I hope so.Anyway, I really like Dennis Pitta and think he would be a terrific addition to this team. With their first 3 picks in the upcoming draft, I would love to see the Bengals get Dez Bryant,Morgan Burnett and Dennis Pitta. Quote
