ArmyBengal Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 A year ago, the Cincinnati Bengals put in an offer sheet on Minnesota Vikings fullback Fahu Tahi. The Vikings decided to match the offer, retaining the restricted free agent. One year later and still in need of a fullback, the Bengals are contemplating another offer sheet for Tahi, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.Because Tahi got the low tender and was undrafted, the Bengals could get him, if the Vikings opt not to match, without having to lose a draft pick as compensation.Tahi played for the Bengals in 2006 as an undrafted free agent, but joined the Vikings as an injury replacement for Tony Richardson(notes) and emerged as the starter in Minnesota two years ago. Now, the Bengals want him back./>http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=nfp-bengals_considering_another_run_at_tahi_html-2010315&prov=nfp&type=lgnsYou would think with Jeremi always being a question mark, this would be a good move just as it was last year. The plus, as last year, is that the Bengals wouldn't have to give up a pick, should the Vikings decide not to match the offer. I wouldn't have any issues with getting Tahi. Quote
BengalPimp Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I guess they haven't seen enough development in Fui Vakapuna ?Always good to have someone who is established though.....for the right price. Quote
HairOnFire Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I wanted this last year, and nothing's changed. Because not only will Tahi not cost a draft pick in compensation it removes fullback from the draft day wish list. That's almost like adding a pick. Plus, Tahi can start and play well right now. He already knows much of the offense, terminology, coaches, etc... Furthermore, Tahi would seem to be the perfect mentor to Vakapuna, if the latter player isn't cut. They're related, physically identical, and Vakapuna has actually based his style of play on Tahi's. Regardless, this is a player they've had once and have repeatedly attempted to get back. They've also gone so far as to draft a clone of this player...thereby removing all doubt about what they're looking for at FB after the Jeremi Johnson era ends. Stop looking. Buy. Quote
Trevor Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Yeah tahi is a good and gifted player... And would be great for mentoring fui... But i think fui and tahi are gonna have to work on pass blocking, Jj is a very good run and pass blocker. They put him in as the single back sometimes because they know he wont allow carson to get pummled... If tahi can do what jeremi does blockingwise and still not fumble and catch the ball, then i say get him. If jeremi can show why he deserves his job and gets some of skillsretooled, then i say keep him. Quote
