Ickey44
Vincent Jackson would be a great pick up, but I doubt the Chargers let him go. I could see them putting the franchise on him. I don't see any other of their free agents they would want to do it with. From what I've read on Merriman, they'd be happy to let him walk. redsbengalsbucks
There are a number of serviceable vet TE's on that list. Pick one up and keep Coffman, and Fosschi. Let those three battle it out with Kelley and a undrafted free agent in camp.Peppers would be nice if it wouldnt break the bank, but it probably would.I also wouldnt mind Steve Breaston as a WR pickup, he has good hands and some good speed too. ArmyBengal
The TE position I really think hinges on what they do with Kelly. There are a few names that I think have a chance of leaving their teams.Fasano and Scheffler come to mind, but here is what I found interesting about those two. They each only had 4 more receptions than Faschi did. Those two and Foschi all had 2 TD's on the season as well. The biggest difference ?? How many times Fasano and Scheffler caught for first downs.I don't know how many drops Foschi was credited for on the season, but for the most part he's comparable to those two.I say this, because it surprised me and think he's certainly a nice 3rd TE option for this team and going back to my first sentence, if the organization thinks Kelly can come back for one more year, they might just stick with a Kelly, Coffman, Foschi lineup at the position. I think they should go get another TE in the later rounds that may end up on the practice squad, but Kelly will drive this decision I think. SupaBran
What's the latest on the CBA? I haven't heard anything in a while and if we turn into the Kansas City Royals of the NFL I will shoot myself! What are our options with Coles? Can we drop him or are we stuck with him?I agree that Vincent Jackson will not be allowed to walk and will be franchised b/c I believe they don't even want Merriman anymore. What's everyone's opinion on Shawne Merriman? He is still young but hasn't even remotely looked like his old self since his injury.I would completely s**t myself if we somehow got Brandon Marshall! I live right next to UCF where Marshall went to college and have followed him for years and is the true playmaker that would single handedly turn this anemic pass game around and put Chad and Carson back in the Pro Bowl...but lets be real, he is going to Washington. My point is we need a new starter next year opposite Chad whether it be a vet FA or a rookie. I would also s**t myself if Dez Bryant fell to us! Sorry I can't control my bowels when something awesome happens!!! One guy that I would love is Gostkowski. The dude is legit and is only 26, and the Pats have shown they don't put much value on kickers after letting Vinatieri go.Another guy is Nick Collins. I think this is a huge need and would be a fantastic pickup. I would rather have Eric Berry or Taylor Mays but I think they will both be Top 10 picks after all is said and done. Getting him here would give Carson yet another reason to jack up his game. Troy Williamson has some speed but is a one-trick pony.Of the TE's, there are quite a few who could come in and make an impact. Scheffler has had his issues with the broncos coaches....what is it with the Broncos?Thomas Howard is a LB who I really liked. Of the safeties, Jarred Page is a tough guy who can run.Kampmann is a DE who could do well in Cincy. Odom's recovery will determine how hard they pursue a FA DE. Obviously Peppers will be prized and command giant money.

DC_Bengals_Fan
Troy Williamson has some speed but is a one-trick pony.Yep, and unfortunately catching passes isn't his trick. After all the dropped passes we saw this year, I don't think I could sit through that. There are some pretty fair TEs and Safeties available, which we could use. May also need a DT especially if they don't resign Tank.
derekshank
Think about players that we know don't want to resign with their old team... but also have never been known for being bad guys in the locker room.Yes, I'm looking at you Kirk Morrison and Richard Seymour. Trevor
This is totally doable... Antonio bryant to a 2 year deal, aaron kampman to a 3 year deal, and ken lucas to a 2 year deal, and i will literally crap myself. They are all perfect for us. Lucas is used to covering #1 receivers. He'll be our nickel, Kampman is perfect for a 4-3. He'll take geathers spot. And antonio bryant is a beast, he just needs a good qb like palmer. And put coles in the slot! It would allow Geathers to trim down and worry solely about rushing the passer like he did when he got 10.5 sacks.I actually think it might be doable. With other ends getting more attention in Peppers and Seymour. Plus, Kampman is a 4-3 end and we are one of the few 4-3 teams left.Great...now you've got me all excited only to be disappointed... But i think if we got those 3 guys and some key cog draft picks, we'd be in position to win some playoff games

That's why I mentioned him a couple of days ago. A very solid player whose skills compliment Chad and who plays for a team that would love to keep him, but probably can't. As for Brandon Marshall, I'm interested only if Chad is traded. So yeah, I'm interested.

Just my opinion.Since the Bengals typically don't jump into FA early and generally target 2nd tier guys, your comments mesh pretty well with mine. That said, Floyd is tall (6'5") and just managed his best season (45 catches) on a Chargers team that is loaded with tall receivers. SD will definitely protect Vincent Jackson, likely leaving Floyd available and possibly around for a few weeks once FA starts (which, as noted above, is a key to any FA signing by the Bengals). His recent stats compare favorably to Antonio Bryant (another 2d tier FA mentioned in this thread) and, most importantly, he's not a former Clown. Are there more sought after FA's - sure. None of which are likely to come up on the Bengals' radar though. Are there draft prospects - sure, but they cost a draft pick and, outside of one or two, are unlikely to produce in their first season. Just my take. ArmyBengal
Kampman is coming off of season ending ACL surgery. I don't know what he will have left after the surgery and it's not like he's getting younger either. I would almost rather see them continue developing Michael Johnson then throw the money at Kampman and the unknown with his knee.
