7/11
behind MJ, my favorite pick of the draft.watching UTAH a couple times last year (including the Sugar Bowl), i saw him as one of the best in college football. he completely manned up against the Tide and took them for 10+ catches and 120 yds (somethin like that) in the Sugar Bowl. i'm sure there are reasons he fell to the 7th, but i'm curious if any of you saw much of him and what you think of him.even with the slew of WRs we have on the roster, i see him making the team (likely PS), but eventually i see him earning some playing time..any thoughts? ArmyBengal
I honestly don't know much about him, but can't see a chance in hell for him to be anything more than practice squad material minus an injury to one of the other guys pretty much already looked at as the top 7 (if they carry that)... Nothing bad to say against the guy, hope for good things for him as well, and still love the whole "F. Brown" jersey concept !!!
Kazkal
Would like to see the guy make the team but from my understanding he isn't in a returning competition which is his best chance to make the team since more likely 6th WR will be a punt returner... icehole3
saw him in Sugar Bowl as well, he gets open was my thought after watching him, hopefully he'll get a shot
BlainThePain
Hopefully we can stash him on the practice squad for a year.It looks like it will be a close race between Antonio Chatman, Freddie Brown, and Quan Crosby for that sixth spot. Chatman and Cosby have a huge edge over Brown in that they can return punts.
BengalPimp
I like the kid, but my only concerns are his 40-time (in the 4.6-4.65 range) and the fact that he played for a pass-happy Utah team. I'd like to see him stick, but like others said, unless he can play special teams and return kicks(doubtful with his speed) I cant see him making the 53 man roster. jjakq27
Any chance Simpson gets cut? It's a little early but if you read between the lines, Marvin may not be satisfied with his progress to date. If Simpson underachieves and Brown has a chance to flash in the second half of some preseason games, that might be a reason to dump Simpson. But on paper it looks like Brown might be PS material. They will trade him and make room for Henry or Simpson to take over as our number 1 (As scary as that sounds). That is if we resign Henry. OBVIOUSLY, if neither performs well enough to warrant such a drastic move then Chad will stay, but I have this feeling that they are only bringing him back so they can trade him! JoePong
From what I hear, Brown was pretty impressive in practice.

He'll play out his contract in stripes. Hopefully they won't even try to resign him... because while he is still the most talented WR on the roster, there is plenty of depth to go on without him. I just don't see a trade happening anymore. There were tons of rumors about multiple WR's being on the trading block this past offseason, and despite a good deal of teams showing interest, none pulled the trigger. Prima Donna WR's just aren't going to get good value in a trade. That said... If they did get rid of him, I think Henry and Coles could probably hold down the fort with contributions from Caldwell... hopefully Simpson's hard work eventually paying off, and a couple TE's who are actually receiving threats. That's still a much better cast of weapons than the majority of teams give their QB's.
ArmyBengal
Not only that, but I could see the Bengals using another pick in the 2nd or 3rd round of the draft next year on WR.There are many variables to consider when looking at our WR corps. Chad and Henry with coming back, Coles getting up in age, Simpson's development, and whatever else you can add to that equation would equal me not being suprised by a WR choice with one of our first three picks. Oh, f**k that s**t.I'm dead serious on that one. Who knows what is going to happen with Chad or Henry after this season ?? If Simpson doesn't develop to a point they feel he can step into one of those spots vacated if they don't return, what else can they do minus a trade or a waiver wire scrub ?? Give me Gilyard out of UC next year in the 3rd and I wouldn't complain...
