HairOnFire
So if Maualuga busts, it's Mike Brown's fault right ?? YEESSSSSSS !!! Exactly. Good or bad Lewis made it clear it was Mike's call to reject the trade offers and simply select the best player available, Rey Maualuga. To be clear though, Lewis showed total support for the decision. (Unless you consider publically acknowledging the decision making process and front office pecking order to be a subtle form of protest.) Regardless, when this chapter is eventually written into Bengal Legend...(ahem)....Maualuga has to be considered a Mike Brown pick.
ArmyBengal
There would have had to have been a monster trade package put together for the Bengals to consider for a team to move up and take Maualuga when he certainly has 1st round potential. There was probably nothing close to what Mike Brown would have been looking for, if HE was looking at all, in order for a trade to take place there. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE PICK !!! Agree on all points. Frankly, I'd love to learn what teams were involved and what picks were offered in exchange for Maualuga, but I doubt after learning every fine detail of those proposals I'd second guess the decision to reject all trade offers due to my belief Maualuga was a near perfect draft pick in almost every way possible, including team need, draft value, etc. That said, I doubt any offer floated would have qualified as a monster trade package....as we're still talking about other teams attempting to move up into a high 2nd round slot...a move that after moving down might have gained the Bengals no more than a 4th or 5th round pick. I just can't see where there would have been enough offered to make the Bengals give up what was certainly a no brainer pick from all standpoints.
