Updating a previous report, California QB Nate Longshore will be going to a tryout with the Miami Dolphins instead of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Ed Thompson, of Scout.com, reports the Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to terms with undrafted rookie free-agent TE Greg Orton (Purdue). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

I like Quan Cosby he kind of reminds me of TJ only much shorter - 5'8.5 192lb 92 catches for 1123 yds 10 TD - he is tough 4.44 speed-good hands and great downfied blocker-- could be a good KR/PR

Lucky is OK just not that special he ran for 1019 yds 9 TD in '07 runs a 4.53 - he can run through a hole just does not do much more- not much wiggle or moves

Any player with return ability has a real chance to make the final roster, especially if Scott is going to be our backup RB. Outside of that, I agree that Cosby has a chance to beat out Purify, Uruttia and company if he shows anything on STs. Cosby has over 90 catches and 1100 yards on a National Championship-caliber team last season and might prove to be a steal.

Saw this article about the Ohio State QB, Boeckman...

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sport...at=&sid=101

Bengals will take look at Boeckman on weekend

His heart is with the Cleveland Browns, but Todd Boeckman now hopes to play for his favorite team's cross-state rival.

The former Ohio State quarterback and 2007 All-Big Ten player is headed to Cincinnati this weekend for a tryout.

"I'm a Browns fan," Boeckman said yesterday, a bit sheepishly, "but it's nice just to get an opportunity to go somewhere and get a chance. I'm looking forward to it."

Cincinnati has three quarterbacks on its roster: starter Carson Palmer, journeyman veteran J.T. O'Sullivan and third-year pro Jordan Palmer, Carson's younger brother.

Boeckman is one of eight former Buckeyes who will have NFL opportunities despite going undrafted last weekend. Offensive tackle Alex Boone signed with San Francisco, and punter A.J. Trapasso signed with Tennessee.

The others, like Boeckman, have not signed deals but are hopeful of getting one after their upcoming tryouts. They are defensive tackle Nader Abdallah (Jacksonville), tight end Rory Nicol (Washington), offensive linemen Ben Person (Detroit) and Steve Rehring (Cincinnati), and fullback Brandon Smith (Chicago).

Pressley and Nelson might have a real shot at making the team. Nelson is said to be a pretty good kick returner which we obviously need.

I would have liked to see us sign Julius Williams of UConn. Guy is a phenomenal athlete.

Who the hell is Julius Williams?

LOVE bringing in Quan Cosby. He's older, but he just produces. To bad we have some many freaking WR's on this team

I really thought the Bears would have drafted him in the late rounds...

All I know about Quan Cosby is he appeared on NFL.com yesterday in an interview featuring Bill Cosby in full Temple football uniform. Anyways, he seemed like a nice enough kid and if Bill Cosby likes him, he's ok by me!

If he was the same age (instead of 27 this year) as the other rookies, he would have gone no later than the 2nd round in my opinion.

He's just older. I like him, but he doesn't seem to make much sense for this team with all the WR's we have...

It only makes sense if the guy has an affinity for returning kicks. Its about time they brought in someone specifically because of return skills, rather than select someone already on the roster who is willing to do that job. Cosby would be perfect if he could be a quality 4th or 5th receiver and a fulltime return specialist.

Wasn't someone we drafted a return guy ?? Scott maybe ?? I could be mistaken...
I don't know, but he looks like he could return punts. Jesus, we have so many WRs you'd think that one of them could return kicks. ( Boy, I do miss Tab Perry) Maybe Maurice Purify is willing to at least try. Morgan Trent is supposed to be fast, but apparently he has never returned kicks.( Just for curiousity, I looked at all of the CBs taken after Trent and they all seemed to be described as cover guys who can run and possess valuable return skills. Not Trent. He just runs well. )I don't know about Freddie Brown. He's supposed to be pretty capable after the catch, and he has okay timed speed. The Bengals are said to be bringing in a WR from San Jose St. for a tryout at the minicamp by the name of David Richmond-he's a skinny 6'2" guy with only 3 or 4 years of experience playing organized football, i.e., he doesn't seem like the answer for the return game. As of now, I think Quan Cosby is it.

I really don't know if his role is going to be expanded that much to tell you the truth. Chad will be on the field regardless of anyone's personal opinion of that walking bag of squirel sh*t, Coles will be starting, Henry hasn't been in trouble and should be ready, and you still have Simpson as well. I like Caldwell, but I'm not sure how he's going to fit in at this time.

We have a millions WR's on the d*mn roster...

Something I thought about is who sits on gameday. Chad, Coles and Caldwell are definites. You would have to think the Bengals would want to get Simpson more involved this season. That leaves one active gameday spot available between Henry, Chatman and the multitudes of rookie and practice squad WRs. I think there is a very releastic chance that Henry doesn't make the cutdown this season, as he gives almost nothing on STs.
