Bearcat1975
What is that Bearcat ??You aren't hip to "dramatic chipmunk?" Here it is: Dramtic Chipmunk is an internet sensation that ranks right up there with Chris Crocker (not the Bengal), Chocolate Rain Guy, Getting rickrolled, 2 girls 1 cup, and the others."Dramatic Chipmunk. Always the right move."
ArmyBengal
Probably in repsonse to me stating posts would be deleted. No issue. Nothing to see here people, move along...Back on topic, it has been said many times and probably many more before the draft and that is, we will get an impact player at #6 (If we stay there) and if that impact player was on the defensive side of the ball, I wouldn't be unhappy in the least. It should prove fun to see how this turns out though. I think things are far from over in the moves this team is making. It might not be in FA, but between that and the draft, things are going to keep changing I feel...

walzav29
OK. I agree. Orakmo, Smith, Monroe, Raji. How many times have we watched Pitt and the Ravens just run, and run, and run? That may be why I want Raji. I think with him and Sims that could put an end to that. We have to protect Palmer though. So, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. jditty47
i'll take crabtree if its BPA. then we can always trade chad, or just stock up our receivers and pray we can get a center and fullback that are decent.

ArmyBengal
Agree that I'm more sold on what we have in Peko, Sims, Harris, and Shirley (assuming Shirley develops) and would like to see a DE added more. I'm more than aware that solid play from the DT position can assist the DE's in the pass rush department, I just don't see that being the case here. I don't know if they really need to get a 3 down DE or target a pass rush specialist that can be had later in the draft. I'm not the subject matter expert on that one, but as much as I like Raji, he's not the one I want the most at #6.
Kazkal
don't know if they really need to get a 3 down DE or target a pass rush specialist that can be had later in the draft.I'm leaning towards 3 down end myself just because it allows Geathers to go back to doing what he was effective at...Vs telling him to gain some weight and play the run...I like Raji, he's not the one I want the most at #6.Indeed,If it was last year it would be a different story but this year the only way I could see DT if it was a Warren Sapp / Haynesworth type DT who is going to penetrate and pressure the middle vs just be a space eater.... Kazkal
. it's funny we've been clamoring for a stud dt for so long, and peaked last year missing out on ellis, but this year he may be sitting there for us and we pass, times change i suppose.Missed out? That was a good thing it made it so we got Pat Sims instead who imo is a stud and hopefully will improve more and more...Missed out on Ellis wasn't a bad thing though IMO Pat Sims is a stud and hopefully will continue to get better &better. Pat Sims G:11 GS:6 Tackles 36 Sacks 1 -When he started to play more seemed like D would get better and better.S.Ellis G:13 GS:13 Tackles:30 Sack: 4- 3 more sacks started 7 more games and was 7th overall.... G.Dorsey G:16 GS:16 Tackles 46 Sack:1 So Pat Sim put up close to the same stats in the less games being more of a Space Eater tackle vs Glenn & Ellis who were more of UT type tackles... kingwilly
Sims has turned out the be a great pick. Now, if we can gt Shirley to mature, he could be a Haynesworth/Rodgers type player.I like Raji but consider OT and DE more important. HairOnFire
It's funny how quickly some of you are dismissing what Ellis managed to do as a rookie. Granted, Sim's looks like a bargain due to his cheaper 3rd round price, but Ellis still managed to double the sack production of Sims and Dorsey combined. And as modest as it might seem 4 sacks is a fairly respectable number for a rookie DT.

ArmyBengal
Ellis also started double the games that Sims did, so it's not unreasonable to think Sims could have managed another sack or more with the same opportunity, plus he had more tackles than Ellis overall. I'm not bashing Ellis, just really happy we got Rivers in the first and Sims production later in the draft. The Bengals lucked into that one... Kazkal
I really wasn't trying to bash Ellis because I did want him like everyone else,I was also a huge Ngata homer...Just trying to point out the only reason people don't seem to want a DT now is we actually got good production out of our DT's...ya we wanted to trade for Shaun Rodgers,we wanted to draft Ellis neither happened but luckily what did happen was we found a defensive tackle in Pat Sim sand I like the upside Shirly has who gets flagged as character risk but from what I read on him he just seems more like a big "really big" doofus....PS,If they felt Raji was worth the 6th pick it would be fine with me because him & Sims in the middle would make RB's cringe...Just really think rushing the passer needs to be one our top priorities with getting a center..... ArmyBengal
Like I said way earlier, I would have no issues with Raji, if he were the pick. He's just not the guy I want the most.Agree that him, Sims, and Peko would be a nice rotation. Shirley would get another year to get in the mix as well.
