9Bengals9
Hello. New to the board. Just read on rotoworld that the Bengals have upped their offer to Benson. Guess the trip to TX and talk of taking a backup role in Texas may have worked in Ced's favor. Also, Jim Rome just interviewed Rex Grossman and he said that he has a visit set up with the Bengals for later this week..

HAPPYJAQ
welcome we need to get benson signed.let the sexy rexy jokes commence.I'd be all for having Rex as a backup, for a modest deal. He's a lot better option than the other QB the Bengals are looking at in J.T. O'Sullivan, who couldn't even cut mustard in the Mike Martz "every QB succeeds" offense. Larry
SEXY REXY.... the guy wins more than he loses.... I have no idea I what I mean about that. I guess he would be a decent backup at the right price...
Bearcat1975
Ha Ha we have a bunch of chicken littles on this site, the sky is falling. The "chicken little" defense is a broken f'n record too. Get some new material.

Pidge
If the FA goes as badly as some think it will, and in fairness it's not been good so far, then your first 3 picks are decided. Tackle with #6 and then RB and C in either order with picks 2 and 3. Forget LBs or DTs this yr with anything other than a second day flyer. Hell, I'd go and use most of those second day picks on O-line depth anyway. Maybe pick up a good strong FB in the draft to help out our RB and running game in general and give Carson a little extra protection on passing downs. Or get a rookie FA in who actually is a bonafide FB at least and not just a converted punter. Move to a stronger running game which has been mooted for yonks now anyway and makes sense given the division we're in.f**k WR. Without an effective O-line, and for that matter a healthy Carson, the WRs mean precisely dick. It's not quite all she wrote yet folks.**This is assuming that the front office doesn't think the O-line is largely fine as it is. jditty47
my grandma would be more capable than fitz. i wish everyone that plays well in a 1 game relief mode would get the special treatment fitz got. the quality of backups in this league would be astounding! Bearcat1975
Someone will get upset with bring this up, so I won't say his name. It's as clear as a windexed window that either they have NO CLUE how to win, or have figured out a formula to make money without truly competing. I mean look at what has happend. They could have offered TJ this same deal at the beginning of last season and he would have taken it. They draft and develop Stacey Andrews and he leaves. They try to low ball everyone. You had better believe that Ced Benson is gone to. Listen to Ward talk about Cincinnati and compare that to the wining and dining that TJ received. I bet they took Ward to Skyline Chili. It's a joke, and when I'm sitting there is Sept. watching the Bengals go down the tubes for another season I have no one to blame but myself. I don't think you can build through FA, but good teams can fill holes. Which the Bengals have plenty.This.Its called revenue sharing. It was meant to give smaller market teams a chance to compete. Kind of like welfare. But, like welfare, it can be abused.Mike Brown runs the franchise like this: All non-salary cap related expenditures are kept to the bare minimum. He at least has spent to the cap since the 90s, but recently he has been shaving money off of the top of that as well. Then he takes the same check that Jerry Jones gets and deposits it. It only works if you can avoid a national outcry of foul play. But because the Bengals are a small market team, there is never enough of an outcry to make any kind of blip on the radar."In every game, someone has to lose." That's a quote from Roger Goodell in response to the Who Dey Revolution idiots letter to him basically saying what I just wrote above. The NFL needs a punching bag or two, and the ideal punching bag is a small market punching bag because there are less fans to piss off that way. Mike Brown certainly doesn't have a problem with the scam. The NFL doesn't either. The only ones who really get screwed are the portion of hometown fans who actually care about the outcome of the game.Mike Brown is abusing the system to record profits. I watch them because they are the home team and I like the NFL. But my heart hasn't been with the Bengals for years. Why root for a team whose purpose isn't even to win? Seems stupid to me. Then you get the whole "chicken littles get off of our bandwagon" crowd. Which, to any long time Bengals fan this side of Forrest Gump's IQ, is insulting at worst, laughable at best.Kind of like the Bengals when they take the field.Hey from an academic standpoint, Mike Brown's Bengals are a wonderful example why Socialism simply does not work. It looks good on paper, but there will always be some opportunistic douschebag around to milk the system and ruin it for everyone else. sacosud
Benson is inked now for a 2 year deal and I hate to be "new" and say that the Bengals are in rebuild, but it's like the goverment waiting to declare that we are in a recession. The Bengals are in a rebuild and the sooner as fans we accept that the better. The problem is and forever will be MB is in charge of the rebuild. I won't say MB is like Obama, however at least Obama has spending down pat. I have been saying as recent as of today that we need to start with the offensive line, defensive line and linebackers in that order, but I can't say taking Crabtree might not be a bad idea depending on who is left at 6. I think if the best OT and Defensive lineman is gone then maybe we should give Crabtree a look. Benson opens things up a little and who is left FA wise at the offensive line?? Can we get a decent lineman on the FA market or is the draft the best bet???Superman where are you???....Oh yeah in Miami. Why can't we trade Chad??? Oakland/Minnesota could be interested. They don't call him Crazy Al for nothing.I would think there still is a market for Chad and he does not want to be a Bengal. Do you think he will perform now??? HairOnFire
I hereby submit for Post of the Week. Sorry, the judges noted how he spelled "douchebag" incorrectly. Points were deducted. For those keeping score, the award for Post of the Week goes to.....WhurChadAt, for his recent offering featuring Cedric Benson's mug shot. Second place was awarded to COB for his post about how a serial killer might be all that stands in the way of the Bengals winning a championship. And finally, third place was awarded to everyone on this board who wrote at least 10 posts complaining about Mike Brown this week. Most of you managed to qualify. HAPPYJAQ
If you guys think this is something, wait until after this season when the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins turn into the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, respectively. At least, there's always tailgating to keep the fans' interest in NFL football in Cincinnati alive.

Thurmanation
Would anyone call me crazy is i said trade Carson and a 3rd to the Seahawks for S.Wallace, P.Kerney and a 2nd rounder? Then jumping in a time-machine going back to b4 Housh was a Seahawk, franchise him and trade him and a 4th rounder to the Vikings for K.Williams and M.Birk? This way we have Seneca Wallace throwing to Chadm protected by a great Center, you got an extra second round Tackle to protect him as well. On D we get a pro bowl D-line and spend our first round pick on the BEST LB on the board at 6. First 2nd rounder we grab best OT, 2nd second rounder we grab best RB. ___________________________SUPERBOWL!
