HAPPYJAQ
I don't blame him one bit for wanting to go where the money is. I would want every last nickle I could get to ensure my family had everything they needed AND wanted. Homes, cars, vacations, education, to name a few aren't cheap. I'm not saying 9 millions doesn't allow that, I'm merely saying what he does sets the tone for the money he makes and if it were me, I'd want all I could get my hands on...Yeah, I totally get these guys need to make the most money they can while they can. The average NFL career is shorter than any of the 4 major professional sports. I've never been upset when a player leaves the NFL for "greener" pastures. I just hate the fact that so many players take shots at the team on the way out of Cincinnati, be it warranted or not. As far as Jason Brown goes, it will take a ridiculous offer for him to come here. Believe it or not, I think that Marvin being here is one of the few reasons guys will even consider visiting Cincy on a free-agent visit. He is very well respected around the league for being a coach that will support his players and give them the best opportunity for success on the playing field. Hopefully, that'll matter just as much to Brown.
ArmyBengal
Once again, I really don't think we land Brown, but the impact that move would have is HUGE and it would warm the heart to see our organization target him !!!I think freeing up the draft is a big part to it, protecting Carson is pretty important, having a guy that can handle himself in the AFCN is a good thing, not having to worry about the position for many years is positive, getting info (ala Big Willie) on a division opponent couldn't hurt, and putting Baltimore in the boat we currently find ourselves would make me happy. In doing a quick check, I can't even find another Center on Baltimore's roster... And this one really really hurts.http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburgh...s/s_613269.htmlAlso, if you look at Bengals.com he is under the impression that we won't be signing anyone big
Bearcat1975
Forget Jason Brown...Miami is going to go hard after him and are already talking with his agents. Cincy or Miami? Wow, that's a tough choice.I don't know Miami has posionous snakes, Cincy just has Cicadas.Cincinnati has Mike Brown and 19th century puritan ideals.Miami has Bill Parcells and the thong. You do the math. They're supposedly just as high on him as they are on Brown. If we don't sign Brown or Hangartner, I don't want any of the other FA C's. My thinking is that you're going to end up over-paying for one of these aging and declining players that you'll have to cut in a year anyway. None of those guys are coming to Cincinnati on 1-year deals. On top of that, you'd still have to draft a C pretty high, so let Cook or Crummey open the year at C and hope to have the rookie ready by midseason. Brown, if he leaves in FA, would be the 3rd starting C they've lost in FA in only a few years.
