Chopping Block

I wonder if the Bengals have ever considered moving Levi to RT. He's clearly lost a step, due to injury and would face less speed rushers on the right side.

I'm guessing a move inside to OLG is more likely. Jones can't beat or match defenders moves to the outside, and as a result either lunges to the outside or oversets. If he's breaking down, and not simply slowing down...a move to the opposite edge may not help.

Never got why people wanted to move Levi to right which does tend be strong running side...you move a guy when healthy wasn't the best run blocker to the side you tend to run the ball...."shrug"

It's not all that uncommon to see LT's moved to the right side, after injuries, age or ineffectiveness. Anthony Munoz, maybe the best LT in NFL history, finished his career as a RT in Tampa (preseason, at least).

I always thought that Levi was better in the running game than given credit for. These days, his run blocking is clearly better than his pass blocking. He struggles against speed rushers and the thinking is that he'll see less Dwight Freeneys on that side and he'll get help from one of the better blocking TE's in football in Reggie Kelly on running plays.

Again, it's an idea that has merit IF Levi is simply slowing down, but not so much if he's actually breaking down physically.

Probably not the best example then, ehhh?

At this point it's not about what he's better at. It's about where he's a liability. It's about the things he can't do at all OR consistently enough to be acceptable. And if he can't can't control the edge on the left side...if he physically can't get to the spots he needs to control...why flip him to the opposite flank? Why trade one problem for another?
