ArmyBengal Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 http://www.bestfoto.com/Galleries/Gallery_008/cicadas.jpgWas just thinking, with the current invasion going on, how have the Bengals fared during past Cicada invasions and found this info:1970 Cicada Invasion- Bengals finish 8-6, 1st in AFC Central1987 Cicada Invasion- Bengals finish 4-11, last in AFC Central2004 Cicada Invasion- ???With the rotation we see from the past, we are due a 1st place finish and a trip to the playoffs in 2004. Oddly enough the year following the invasion is at the opposite side of the spectrum: 1971- Last and 1988- First. Does that mean we finish last in the AFC North in 2005 ??? Anyway, also found that during each cicada invasion, we had a coach with a 5 letter last name: Brown, Wyche, Lewis. Things that make you go hmmmmm..... Maybe I just have to much time on my hands for a change !!! Oh yeah, here's a pic for those of you unfamiliar with these noisy critters... Glad I'm not there !!!WHODEY !!! Quote

Turi Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 I realise this is all meant in lighthearted jest but still, the stats aren't really enough to spot any correlation. Maybe I'd be more inclined to go along with the theory if the pattern went back consistently for about at least 5 cicada invasions. That aside though, this topic did make me consider that the Bengals may be the cicadas. You know, you've been underground for a while and now it's time for your invasion and domination. Quote
