Thurmanation
I hope Sims can compete.. If not then No.P.S. the Bengals should trade their second round pick next year for a good DT or atleast a proven one, seeing as our current round 2 picks haven't been doing much let alone our first round picks. Like for a First Second and Third we could easily fix this entire D.Who do you have in mind to trade for?You can get a great DT/DE/LB for a first, and you can get a great DB for a second and maybe third. Like picking up Urlacher for a first then grabbing OJ Atagwe for the second and third conditional. Or possibly Kris Jenkins or another DT for the first. Plus Bengals haven't traded draft picks for a player that I can remember. As far as Shirley goes, ArmyBengal, if he plays and stays clean off the field, then I'll be as pleased as an 18-year-old at his first strip club. The middle of the d-line will be strong with Peko, Sims and Shirley for a good long while.
HAPPYJAQ
I know that people will hate this, but with how young the Bengals roster is, they are still evaluating what they have on the roster. I think the Bengals will stand-pat with the combination of Thornton, Peko, Myers, Sims and possibly Fanene and Rucker. Shirley will start out of the practice squad, although I expect some team will give him a look later in the season if he stays clean, similar to the DT they drafted last year. He is just too freakish of an athlete not to. They will make it a huge gamble in terms of how they manage Shirley, but at least the Bengals get the first look. I'm expecting Fanene to turn the corner this year. He has flashed good ability thoughout his time here and only injuries have stopped him. I would be OK with Geathers and Odom on the outside and Fanene and Peko in the middle, with some combination of Sims, Thornton, Myers and Shirley rotating in.
