agreen_112
A nice read from the official site: http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=6787I found this to be interesting: "Lewis is looking for more from Jackson (Dexter) and he is giving it to him. There is still talk about Jackson's speech to the rookies the night before the rookie camp."I liked Dexter from the start. Even though he may lack ability, he's a leader and he's got a good attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if Zimmer gives him the "C" (captain) title this year. Can anyone find out what exactly Dexter said to the rookies? BengalPimp
DJax is the veteran leader that young and talented secondary needs, at least for another season or two. He's also the best form tackler they have. What he may lack in athleticism at this point in his career, he more than makes up for in effort, intelligence and recognition. One more thing about the article.....did it bother anyone else that he listed Ahmad Brooks at 270 lbs ? Ahmad, lay off the cheeseburgers, you should be in the 250lb range. Heck, our DE's dont weigh 270lbs....Geathers 265...Odom 274.

I've always wondered why Thornton wears the "C". Don't you need some kind of production to go along with the title of captain? Dhani was the captain of the special teams last year but seemed to be the captain of the defense as well. If the article is accurate, let Jackson assume a formal leadership role. HAPPYJAQ
I think that Jackson is one of those players that would benefit from playing on a better defense, similar to how it was for him in Tampa. He is not a "game changer" but is more than solid, especially in run support. He is a smart, heady veteran and obviously Marvin considers him to be a leader of the defense. The drawback is that if he starts, it takes away from Nduke's playtime and I think he is the better playmaker of the two. He's a good bridge for the young players in the secondary, though. I'm really not sure Ndukwe will be the starter. Plus, you have to remember that the burnt-toast-never-n-position Madieu Williams is GONE. This is a good thing for everyone in the secondary. Besides, I cringe at the thought of our starting safeties having only 5 career starts COMBINED on opening day this year in Nduke and White. I also agree that Williams didn't play up to his talent over the last 2 seasons and White should be at least as good at a lot cheaper price. Another thing I thought about with Jackson speaking to the Rooks is that maybe the Bengals are preparing to name Jackson the new defensive captain and cut Thornton.
