jjakq27
Around 25 years before Shula's Dolphins went 17-0, the Cleveland Browns went 15-0 during the 1948 AAFC season. When the Browns were absorbed into the NFL with two other teams after 1949, none of the AAFC statistics or records were recognized by the NFL. Part of this was the absolute dominance of that league by the Browns and the perceived imbalance. In contrast, when the AFL and NFL merged prior to 1970, all AFL statistics were counted and accepted into the NFL records.http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...280321/1067/SPT
Horsemen
Interesting read. Of course Cleveland really hasn't ever been aknowledged for any of their past. 8 pre-Superbowl Championships in 18 years, 11 confrence Championships, 13 division championships, first to go 15-0. I'd call that a dynasty worth noting.

I'd call that a dynasty worth noting. They were pretty dominant during that era. It's too bad that many people don't acknowledge much from the pre-Super Bowl era. There were some great teams during the 50's and 60's that aren't relevant these days.

jjakq27
The Pats also hold the longest consecutive winning streak in NFL history at 21 games, spanning the 2003 and 2004 seasons. During that streak they won 18 regular seasons games as well.http://www.profootballhof.com/history/rele...release_id=1306
jjakq27
Congrats to the Dolphins for hanging onto their perfect season. That Super Bowl is my earliest memory of football and I have been hooked ever since. Great to see them keep the streak all to themselves.I am sure somehwere PB, Otto and the boys are toasting themselves too.
