BengalBax
Here is my honest assessment of this team, heading into next year.I think we will win 2 of the next 4 and finish 6-10. I see us drafting about 9th this year.I honestly think we need to make it a priority in the offseason to acquire a veteran backup QB. I have a baddddd feeling something is starting to smell rotten with Mr. Palmer. We need to focus on getting a pass-catching TE, and I think we need to shift Rudi into the "goal line" back mode we saw the Steelers use with Bettis. We need to really give Irons or Watson a shot at starting, and get De De Dorsey a LOT more involved.Chad Johnson is a fu*king headcase. Get him a psychologist, do something to get this guy straight. His antics are getting OLD QUICK.I really feel that we are a pass rush away from being a much better defense. If we can get someone to go alongside Geathers, a true speed-rush guy, Our defense can get in the Top 20 this upcoming year. All this leads me to this....is it time to start looking at some of our old faces and saying "Okay, this isn't working. AT ALL."Smith, Thorton, B Robinson, Deltha, D Jax, Rudi, Willie, R. Kelly............Go with a youth movement?

Kazkal
Palmers having a bad year when the whole offense is having a bad year,Before replacing him let's see if it continues in to next.We did pay him 100 million dollars you know PS,We need to improve our Oline and running game WR's and QB are not the problem

I am saying get a realiable backup in here that has 3-4 years of good time left in the league. If Palmer falters again next year, go from there. I agree the line sucks. But....please admit Chad is a headcase. I mean, he is a grown man pouting cause someone said he was selfish? Go out and prove them wrong. He has NO killer instinct. At times, he should be on a comedy club stage, not a football field.
JohnsonX5
I don't think we've sacked Rottenburger even once this year - pathetic pass rush. Granted, we should have had one sack/safety tonight... An improved pass rush would help out our secondary/pass defense tremendously imo.I agree, our oline sucks as well. And I wouldn't mind seeing less of Rudi and more of Watson and Dorsey.

On his way to another 30 TD year. Yeah, he's had a tad bit of a down year. But his O-Line is terrible. He doesn't have a TE. And he was without a 3rd WR for half of the year. Oh yeah, no running game doesn't exactly help. What do you want from the guy? He's the whole team right now. When defenses know that he is all we got, what do you expect? ArmyBengal
Well Palmer is not the reason for all the problems going on (at least in my opinion) but I am getting sick of seeing NO SENSE OF URGENCY WHATSOEVER !!! These guys don't look like they care one bit. I gets to a point that it's embarrassing to watch "professional" football players look like they could care less about what happens. It's like being out there on the field is an inconvenience to them and then they just b*tch and moan the whole time.WHODEY !!!

We want a high draft pick next year... Our team has been decimated from the start of the season, just look at everyone we've lost. Our offensive line is in shambles (should've re-signed Steiny, this is an ownership problem). We have absolutely NO pass rush (bad coaching/drafting/scheme... just bad coaching overall). The lack of a pass rush is mostly to blame for our defensive problems. Losing Odell and Pollack and Brooks have also hurt TREMENDOUSLY! Our offensive line couldn't get push on a high school team, we have absolutely no running game. These are major issues. Palmer, Chad, or any other skill player isn't to blame here. I really believe that the Bengals are not trying to win another game. They know there are serious problems here that need to be worked out and this just is not our year. Chalk it up as a losing season and look forward to next year. Guys, there is some amazing talent coming out of college this year. A #9 pick overall would be excellent. Just try to stay positive, winning a Super Bowl isn't something that happens after you make the playoffs for the first time in 15 years... This team still has a lot of growing to do. A lot of coaching changes to be made.

No, you don't replace Carson Palmer. He remains the most important building block this team has. That said, the Bengals offense is broken and despite some inpressive statistics looks completely inept far too often....so when the question of blowing this team up is asked I have to answer yes, and please include the offense when placing the explosive charges. (In fact, even typing that makes me feel stupid because it's so self-evident.) Suggesting that Palmer has somehow forgotten how to be a pro bowl QB smacks of Monday morning hysteria. CP will be fine as will WR's #1-3. RB is a big question mark as it's pretty clear that Rudi's lost some effectiveness. O-line needs to be addressed with 1 or 2 new faces. If that's "blowing up" then I agree. If "blowing up" means getting a second tier veteran QB in the offseason, I'd say that sound far more like business-as-usual than anything else. Keep Jeff Rowe and get him some more time in blowouts and preseason and develop him into a long-term backup QB. There's no need to jettison him (like Bramlett) and then proceed through a series of bad QB's whose only attribute seems to be the label of "veteran" attached to them. Coupled with Bax' apparent belief that the defense is "one more pass rusher" away from decency makes this particular overreaction complete. The fact that the defense has strug together a few better-than-horrible games doesn't mean that this side of the ball does not remain the first, principal and major concern to address this offseason. If all they did was improve the o-line and draft defense in every round, in fact, that would be just about right as I see it.
