halp
Jason....you hit the nail squarely on the head....your' article says it plain and clear.....a third go to guy opens up many doors in both the passing and running game...it adds confidence to all the team....it also takes presure off kit, cj and pw making things go smoother.... KitnasBengals
Kitna has only thrown 1 interception in 2 games, so he has improved. Edited October 18, 2003 by KitnasBengals
KitnasBengals
Hopefully the signing of Kevin Walter will help, but unfortunatley only time will tell.

PalmerTime
Hate to burst the Kitna fan bubbles but Kitna can't handle the speed of a 3rd WR in likes of Washington or Hamilton. The WR's are going to get the blame for something out of their control, which is not having a QB that can hit these guys on the run.Hamilton didn't have a problem catching a amazing catch in the endzone from Shane Matthews against Detroit, and Hamilton surelooked good catching the slant pass from Carson Palmer that went for 68 yards against the Colts. It's not the WR's, it's not the RB's, it's the QB play that will makeother positions play better.Figure all a defense needs to do is shut our running game down.Kitna's got to prove he can hit these WR's. If he can't, then our running game is shut down and our great WR's can't do anything because the QB can't hit them with a pass.Yes, Kitna can hit WR's with a pass but he doesn't throw a good enough ball to give WR's a chance to do anything after a catch.Watch how the WR's have to run mostly curl routes in order for Kitna to hit them with a pass. It's because he can hit a moving target iswhy. Kitna can hit a short slant in pass but overall, our WR's are making circus catches and taking beating driving down the field.Kitna has 9 wins in 3 years as a starter. Hardly a stat that can be defended.
KitnasBengals
By that same token using wins as an indicator of how good a quarterback is, could you say Dan Marino, and Warren Moon are inferior quarterbacks to say, Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson? The first two never won a super bowl, the second two did, that doens't mean they were better quarterbacks, it means they had better teams.Kitna is certainly not a great quartback, but if a guy is open, even once, he will probably get the ball to him at least once. Hamilton? 0 catches, nuff' said.
Kirkendall
Our two receivers have played well, Johnson expectadely, but Warrick has been a bit of a surprise. However, I think that the third threat isn't neccessarily meant to be a WR but a dependable TE would be very key. When the 9ers had Montana he had Rice and Taylor to throw to but Clark and later, Jones were great third down possession TEs, something that helped the 9ers continously move the ball. Same for Dallas in the 80s. I think a third fast receiver wouldn't work in Bratkowski's system, but a dependable TE or a hands running back would be a great addition. Tony Stewart and Reggie Kelly filled that roll nicely against the Bills. I would like to see however Warrick go deep a little to take the double coverage away from Johnson so Chad can run a deep crossing pattern. I'm a bit suprised that we haven't seen that yet. But I completely agree, we need a third threat, not for deep patterns, but to successfully and dependably step in front of the LBs to gain those five yard receptions for first down. halp
hey....Palmert....it's great to be on the band wagon....and we're all awaiting the development of palmer.....but untill KITNA helps train these receivers, (he tremendously helped warrick) cj has the right attitude and work ethic.....hamilton, where is he?......K-wash is trying to learn.....kitna is better then your' preconceived notions....and by the time KITNA and MATTHEWS influence is realized; you'll be thankful the kid that has no arm, can't throw deep, etc. has helped lay the ground work for success.....
