Edogger Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Man, talk about being the next big thing then have the bottom drop out. I heard a lot of people saying how much they liked this show. I can't believe they cancelled it already. Ouch! Unfortunately, I do not get HBO so I miss out on all the new shows...Entourage, Deadwood, and such. I wondering what the reasonings were behind the cancellation. Quote
HairOnFire Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I wondering what the reasonings were behind the cancellation. Both Deadwood and Rome had their intended runs shortened due to the high production costs associated with building and maintaining large expensive sets. In fact, Rome was said to be so expensive to make that even with the combined financial backing of HBO and the BBC it was greenlighted only after further backing from the Italian government. Thus, it's no coincidence that the next project from the creator of Deadwood, "John from Cincinnati", is largely filmed in a run down motel. After all, what could be cheaper? BTW, in my opinion the best television show on the freakin' planet is "The Wire". Quote
Edogger Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Thanks Hair, I didn't realize that Deadwood had high production costs. That makes sense. I have heard that "The Wire" is a good one too. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Heard the actors wanted more money as well...WHODEY !!! Quote

HBO does come up with a lot of good shows, though Quote
Edogger Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 HBO does seem to have a lot more original series lately. Quote
