ArmyBengal Posted May 10, 2007 Report Share Posted May 10, 2007 College Hall Calls Two BengalsPosted By: John PopovichTwo former defensive standouts for the Cincinnati Bengals have been selected to the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana. Linebacker Reggie Williams and Defensive lineman Wilson Whitley were announced today, in a Hall of Fame class that includes Ohio State's Rex Kern, Boston College's Doug Flutie and Penn State football Coach Joe Paterno. Williams played linebacker at Dartmouth College from 1973-75. He was drafted in the third round of the 1976 draft by the Bengals, for whom he played 14 seasons. He went to two Super Bowls. He later became a member of Cincinnati's city council. Whitley played defensive tackle at the University of Houston, where he was named the Southwest Conference Player of the Decade for the 1970's. He was a first round draft pick of the Bengals in 1977. In the early 80's, Whitley, Eddie Edwards, Ross Browner and Gary Burley formed the Bengals WEBB defense. Whitley died in 1992.
