Kirkendall
Two Reports... From the Washington Post.Chargers officials have informed the representatives for Mississippi QB Eli Manning and Iowa LT Robert Gallery that they will open contract negotiations with the two players today, NFL sources said yesterday. The Chargers appear increasingly intent upon selecting Manning with the top overall choice in the draft Saturday. The Chargers could negotiate with other players as well, perhaps using the talks with Gallery and others as leverage in deliberations with agent Tom Condon regarding Manning. From the San Diego Tribune. While most people expect the Chargers to use the first choice in this weekend's NFL draft on Mississippi QB Eli Manning , two league sources said yesterday the Giants were still trying to put together a package to acquire the selection. Giants GM Ernie Accorsi is known to covet Manning, whose brother Peyton is regarded as one of the finest QBs in the league. Sources were uncertain about the level of compensation the Chargers would seek, but it undoubtedly would include a minimum of the Giants' 1st and 2nd round picks this year, #s. 4 and 38. chrishcovga
If they pass on another Manning, then they should be moved to the NCAA , and the Miami Hurricanes should replace them !
