Kirkendall
Does the Colts winning yesterday inspire any extra hope for Bengals fans here? We have a nearly identical offense (when Perry's healthy), and we run the same defense. With some work and some experience... who knows. Not at all. Colts won with their defense -- Manning was nearly a non-factor all playoffs. (MVP my ass) I agree with that, but I ask that question with defense primarily in mind. They (and the Bears) run the same much maligned scheme we run here, and that instills at least a little hope in me. We might need some personnel upgrades, or we might not... but the scheme can get it done if executed properly. I wasn't as confident in that idea before the playoffs. The Colts, yea. But, IMHO, the Colts have more talented players. We don't have a Bob Sanders, Robert Mathis, Dwight Freeney or even a Gary Bracket. The Bears, not so much because they depend a lot on their front four. Sadly, we can't do that. I really believe the scheme isn't the problem. I think it's the talent. The problem is you can't differentiate between the two. But Lewis says it in every losing press conference -- you have to make plays. Our defense simply didn't do that.
