Whur CHad At?
The Florida Sun-Senital said Miami Dolphins owner and other represenatives flew to Costa Rica to meet with Pete Carroll, where he is on vacation, to interview about the head coaching job. Bob Brakowski is also mentioned as a very possible canidate if Carroll differs.
skyline
Pete Carroll wouldn't surprise me. That's the first I've heard of Brat being in the mix.
duus
I continue to wonder why these 'offensive-minded' head coaching positions seem to be getting filled with guys OTHER THAN Grimm and Whisenhunt for the Steelers. It's got to be either than teams really aren't impressed with these as HC candidates or that teams are getting the impression that both are holding out hope for the Steelers job. Just sort of confusing to me.

ArmyBengal
Brat would be a great pick up for the Dolphins and I would be MORE than happy to see him take his ass on !!!WHODEY !!!

Maybe that Pittsburgh media is brainwashing you!Whisenhunt has supposedly interviewed with Miami though.

Pissburgh water will do that. But it just seems that these guys (and especially Whisenhunt) have interviewed everywhere with no takers. Honestly, I hope one of them stays with the Steelers as I don't think either will prove to be 'all that'.
Edogger
Carroll won't go. He would be crazy to. He has everything out at USC right now. It will be interesting to see who goes where. A few head coaching vacancies out there right now and a lot of rumors and people interviewing.
MacD BengalFan
If Pete Carrol was smart, and I believe he is, he will stay at USC. The Dolphins should look at NFL assistants to fill the position as they understand how things work in the front office and that a coach should not have control of player personnel. BlainThePain
Pete would be dumb to leave USC and I think the Dolphins owner is dumb for trying to go after another college coach. If he was smart he would go for Norm Chow or Ron Rivera.

Soon thereafter, the Falcons hire Patrino. Should Whisenhunt not get the Steeler job (which I think he will), then he looks like the dumbest idiot around. He could have had the job in his hometown but screwed it all up. If he does get the Steeler job, then I am happy as I think he will fall on his face ... together with the Steelers. Either way, this situation makes me laugh. Good stuff.
DC_Bengals_Fan
Carroll would be an idiot to leave, but the same was true of Spurrier and he left. Sometimes, it's not enough for these guys to be an absolute god in college - they need to prove they can make it in the NFL. That might go double for Carroll since he tried and failed in the NFL. AMC
Are there currently any head coaches from the college ranks having success in the NFL? Or recently even?
duus
Are there currently any head coaches from the college ranks having success in the NFL? Or recently even?Depends upon your definition of 'recent'. Jimmy Johnson surely comes to mind.
NFL Fanatic
Not Pete Carroll. He sucks as an NFL Coach. Plus, he won't leave USC.
