Well, since the honeymoon is over....shouldn't the Bengals be interested in learning what type of trade compensation they can get in exchange for letting Marvin go?

How about two 1st rounders, two 2nd rounders, a 3rd round sweetner, and Troy Polomalu?

+ Jack Lambert and Mean Joe Greene :sure:

I really wouldn't be totally shocked if Lewis ended up bailing for the Burgh. As we know that job doesn't come open very often, and I'm sure that even if it's not his dream job per se, he knows the Steelers organization and that it's one of the best. Having experienced the Bengals organization, he may look even more fondly upon the Steelers now (who knows??)

- We still don't know whether MB is being a miser when it comes to the FA marketplace.....deals for Sam Adams and the like do not really convince me he's willing to invest in the franchise being competitive. When MB signs an Adalius Thomas, a Champ Bailey--- I'll take notice.

So in other words, for all we know Lewis may see the writing on the wall with the Bengals and figure the Steelers would put him in a much better position to succeed. He could be loyal, want to finish the job he's started, etc., but then again--- he may be more concerned with having longevity as an NFL head coach and aligning himself with quality organizations to do so. Does anyone here, besides the fan boys, think the Bengals are an elite NFL organization, that is-- in the top 10 teams for ownership, management, and scouting???

There is an irony though---- even if Lewis would in fact want the Steeler job, he may have played his way out of it with his season this year. I'm sure the Rooney family can see poor game management just like any Joe Fan can as well.

From the Dayton Daily News

"For any number of reasons, that's not going to happen," Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said. "He is not going to get into any kind of controversial stuff on who's going to fill the job or anything like that."

ESPN.com's NFL senior writer John Clayton named four top candidates to succeed Cowher. They are Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt, Steelers assistant head coach/offensive line Russ Grimm, New York Giants defensive coordinator Tim Lewis and San Francisco 49ers assistant head coach/linebackers Mike Singletary.

I wouldn't be too excited about those names if I was a Stealer fan.....
