The first game of the year was the playoff loss to the Steelers and the final game of 2006 was today's OT loss to the Steelers. In between we endured a season of ups and downs highlighted by winning streaks and losing streaks, quirky losses, curious playcalling and questions about character and heart.

In no certain order and by no means a complete list, here are a few of the story lines of 2006,

Carson's knee injury in playoff game

Chad's outburst at halftime

Signing of FA's Sam Adams and Dexter Jackson

The departure of Jon Kitna to Detroit

Selection of Jonathan Joseph with their first pick of the draft

Questions of character after team selects Frostee Rucker, Eric Henderson and Ahmad Brooks in draft

Odell Thurman's four game suspension to start the season

Carson plays against GB in preseason

Three game win streak to start the season with win at Pittsburgh

David Pollack lost for the season with a broken vertebrae

Odell Thurman suspended for the remainder of the season for a DUI with Chris Henry as a passenger

Justin Smith roughing call against Tampa

Chad's two and three game yardage record

Bengals blow 17 point lead and give up 42 points in second half against SD

Four game win streak to reenter the playoff race at 8-5

Deltha O'Neill picked up for DUI

Carson, Willie and Chad make the Pro Bowl

Bengals defeat Ravens on Thursday night game

Critical extra point miss and field goal kick in final two games

Three game losing streak to finish the season

Eric Henderson wasn't drafted, I think you're thinking of AJ Nicholson.

I'll guess that Odell, Pollack, Deltha, Justin and a few more won't be back in 2007. Regrettably losing a 2005 1st rounder and a 2005 second rounder will be devastating and only hope is FA to repair that damage.

Yeah you are correct. I got my troubled-past guys mixed up.

I think they might surprise us. I think Deltha stays because James will be gone after this year. And I am not sure about Justin.

Losing Pollack and Odell will certainly hurt and who knows about Chris Perry. But Joseph has played well and Peko and Jeanty were nice additions this year.

Let's hope they draft wisely in the first and second and get someone worthwhile. No third rounder this year due to selecting Brooks in the supplemental draft.

Yeah, there's no way we can lose Deltha and Tory both in one year, and I'm here to tell ya, I think Tory's 40 time is probably pushing 5.0.

I don't know why we'd lose Justin unless some team waaaaay overpays. Could happen, hope not.
