Better Luck Next Year?

Marvin Lewis will keep his streak of non-losing seasons alive, but that’s little solace for most fans. While the 2006 Cincinnati Bengals playoffs chances are still (technically) alive, can anyone make a valid argument that they deserve to go? Whether they finish 8-8 or 9-7, they’ve earned it...for better or worse. Maybe they'll have better luck next season.

Well, over the course of a season, a team will get what they deserve. This has been one of those seasons where things didn't always go the Bengals way (- see the end of the Tampa game - but even then, they put themselves in that position to lose. They should have obliterated Tampa Bay.) But even with that game, you still have the San Diego game and Denver game where they had no business losing- but they did. On the other side, beating New Orleans, Baltimore and KC show that this team has the talent to make the playoffs.

I tend to say that their bad losses would say they wouldn't deserve the playoffs. But, I certainly would love to see them make it. Time will tell . . .
