futurebengal08
Well there's still a little hope that our beloved cursed franchise gets to the tournament, but im not clearin my schedule. Here's what we need to do in the offseason1) Resign Kaesviharn, he's been very valuable this season in a limited role, where he seems to thrive.2) Let Justin Smith walk with a pat on the back and a thank you3) Get active in free agency - wouldn't mind making a bid on RFA HB Michael Turner or Daniel Graham, and I think Patrick Kerney is available too. 4) I'm not too sure about the cap situation, but what are the chances we resign Steiny? I'd hate to see him leave.5) Draft Defense, Defense, Defense. Solid guys, no more tweeners. I haven't read up on the draft too much this year, and I don't know too much about the in-coming class, but we need a Pro-Bowl caliber playerThere's a very condensed version, there's plenty more I want done, like a new d-coordinator. What's on your guys' lists?
GregCook
I'd add a starting CB at the top of the list.I'd go outside linebacker shoppingI'd go pass rusher shopping in FAI'd go pass catching TE shopping
CBin2k7
FYI....I am pretty sure I have next year's schedule figured out, home/away games.at PITat CLEat BALat SEAat SFat MIAat BUFat TEN (TEN W or TEN L/JAX L) or at JAX (JAX W/TEN L)home gamesPITCLEBALSTLARINENYJDEN (DEN W or DEN L/KC L) or KC (DEN L/ KC W)I am 90 percent sure this is the way the home/away games will break next season. With the Bengals being assured of the 2nd place schedule, Unless my formula doesn't jive, then you can flip/flop the DEN-KC/JAX-TEN home away
djdannos
Here is the planWe are $30 million or so under the cap...and none if done right will hurt now or laterResign Gathers, 5 yrs - 18-20 mill (6 mill bonus - 1, 2, 2.5 3, 4 salaries)Resign Landon and Caleb, both play hard and have talent, need to bulk up a little. 5 yrs 12-16 millResign Kase 4 yrs - 5 millResign Reggie Kelly, and utlize him more 3yrs-5 millGet a DE pass rusher, DT and CB in FA or draft (since we have no 3rd only get two in draft).Who know how productive these guys will be but get Frostee, Tab, Chapman, Perry all back and some depth elsewhere with other walking wounded on IRLet Smith, James, Stein walk. Odell, who knows - prob cannot get any value trade...so try to bring him back no tolerence or he is out policy. Let him earn back his gig during '07 for 2008Team just needs less injuries and a Palmer that is not mechanically jacked...and Henry to stay out of jail this offseason... Kazkal
Most people must not know what a RFA is....We will not get turner in FA the Chargers will give him a high tender and if they trade him probbley be asking 1st or 2nd... anyways.Cut pasted I'm worried about out own first...1.)Justin Smith Resign him...He missed out on another double digit sack season..so his cap number shoulden't be much more then it is now.2.)Eric Steinbach-If guycheck isen't the future...otherwise tag and trade him..3.)Jumpy Jr tender him and then Extend him4.)Madieu Williams Extend him tongue.gif5.)Kyle Larson Extend him tongue.gif6.)all the tenders(caleb/landon) + min offers for players like KK.After that try to bring in tony G or Daniel graham to upgrade TE postion...Tony G would cost some money I'd rather have graham who should be cap friendly contract + more balanced...If we have money after all that then try bring in a stud like Briggs or thomas or mybe even terrall sands from the raiders...Draft Wise1.)Cb,S,DE,DT,LB just the best play maker on the board.2.) (Oh, and the big money number is not the typical Mike Brown view of severely overpaying for FAs in their second contract.) But other than that I have absolutely no idea. Especially after last year's draft when we all thought we had it pegged and then our draft (in our estimation) went off the reservation! cincy9275
1. fire bresh his scheme and game-planing sucks . i want a aggressive in your face type defense! there are other coaches than need to be fired also . marvin needs to surround him self with the best coaches he can get. 2. resign geathers & smith if smith tries to break the bank let him walk, got to keep geathers.3. tender kk miller & johnson this is quality depth but none are starters.4. bring odell back. i know a lot of people don't think this will happen if he keeps his act together stays out of trouble . then he has paid his dues and deserves another chance. if henry is still on this team the odell should be too.5. try to get adailas thomas he will be just turning 30 at the start of next season. but i think he still has 4 good season left in him and would give us a playmaker on d maybe a leader? graham would be nice to.6. cut or release thornton & james. james is done! thornton is just taking up playing time that guys like fannene and shaun smith should be getting.7. tag and trade steinbach for draft pick or player of equal value.8. draft a c/b l/b center d/e depending on smith . t/e p/r w/r safety. 9. extend madieu willams contract. if these things happen then it would be a very nice offseason. CJBestInAFC
Just read the latest article on Bengals website and Hobson said two players that will probably not be here next season were Tory James and Deltha Oneil. Deltha is in Marvin's doghouse. I would sure like to pick up Nate Clements from the Bills if this does happen.

Even at best I can't envision the Bengals getting much return in trade, and I think if I'm Steinbach I'd welcome the tag and the chance to be grossly overpaid for another season. Deltha is in Marvin's doghouse. I would sure like to pick up Nate Clements from the Bills if this does happen. The news that this is Tory James last season in stripes is at least a year old....probably two. As for Deltha, if the Bengals are serious about moving on without him there has to be more going on behind the curtain than can be seen. Based soley upon his play this season we can probably all agree that he was a big disappointment, but I didn't see nearly enough negatives that would make me consider dumping him on the scrap heap. But I will say this much. Deltha still has two years remaining on his contract and is only a year removed from playing in the Pro Bowl....so I think it's obvious he's got far more trade value than any player who has previously been labled as trade bait. So let's all keep that in mind as we form our unrealistic postseason wish lists. Ehhh?
