johnson85
http://www.gamespot.com/features/6161997/i...p;click=topslotsorry for the late reply i havent been on here in awhile.....anyway I finally got to play a PS3 last night at ebgames.I'll give you my review, not that anyone cares anyway lolI'll start with the controller. I love it, its lighter than the dualshock controller but it still feels well built. The L2 and R2 triggers are awesome they are almost squishy. The analog sticks are alot smoother when moving them especially when moving them very little it dont have as much of a dead zone, it was very responsive. I did use the tilt function but ill talk about that when i get into Motorstorm. Overall the controller is very comfortable. Honestly I didn't even notice rumble was gone, other than it was lighter. OK the games. The system I was on had Motorstorm and NBA 07. Motorstorm is coming along very nice very fun game too. It was an older build of the game though from TGS a couple months ago. There is a newer demo on the Playstation Store. One of the first things you will notice with the game is it looks really good, and the second is the explosions when you crash are sick. If you going full speed into the side of a cliff your whole car will explode, pieces of the car flying in all directions, the driver being thrown around like a ragdoll inside the car, in other words its very fun to crash lol. After figuring out all of the controls i switched it over to the motion sensing. It took me a minute to get used to it but was a whole new experiece which was fun. but it was alot easier to control a truck than it was a dirt bike. This is one game i cant wait to play when its finished. Now NBA 07 first impression was that some of the characters looked washed out or something about them looked weird upclose. but while playing the game it looked pretty good, the arenas looked good the courts looked really good. One thing I noticed was that it was much harder than previous basketball games ive played, in other words i got my ass kicked lol. The player moves looked really good, like when a player would block a player the defensive ai would jump around him realistically. This game has its good a bad but i have been reading that NBA 2K7 is the best out of all of them. And note* NBA live 07 was canceled for this season. They said they want to make the best 08 they can and not rush the game.I have been hearing that the third party developers are waiting for sony to help them cause the system is hard to code for. Sony is mainly helping the first party developers to make the best games possible. I totally believe that this will be like when the PS2 launched there were games that still played like PS1 titles. Like I bought Resident Evil code veronica a couple months ago for $10 and that game is so bad compared to current PS2 titles. So developers have a learning curve ahead of them but im sure once they get everything down we'll being seing some awesome games.Little bit of Killzone 2 news http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2006/11/28/killzo...elf-with-money/"It's worth noting that the title was comparing costs to Dutch films, not worldwide films. But that means Killzone is costing more than $21 million. In addition to this news, the game will have downloadable content, adding a more episodic feel. So now we know -- Killzone isn't dead. Just really expensive."There is another link to gamespots article but i cant seem to access the site right now.
agreen_112
Yeah I checked it out too, over at bestbuy. I played that motostorm, which I really didn't like. The game seemed really slow. The graphics where amazing and the crashes are cool. Actually it's really hard not to crash. I'd like to see the full version. On the other hand, NBA 07 was absolutely incredible. It's the best NBA I've ever seen or played. The game is so realistic it's unbelievable. I know what your saying when your man jumps around the pick to stay on his man, that blew me away. I love the shot meter, it really helps your accuracy. I couldn't miss with Wade. I actually disagree with you in that the game was hard. To me it's probably one of the easiest NBA games I've seen. The controls are really simple and the six axis give the game a different dimension. Right after I tested the PS3, I took a look at the Xbox 360 (Madden 07), it was very unimpressive after viewing the PS3. For some reason I don't think XBox knows how to make a sports game. Yeah it was kinda hard not to crash, but its one of those games that you cant just sit on the gas either like gran turismo but more arcade then simulation. As for the basketball game I guess I just suck as at it. lol Madden on the other hand, thats my game , And from what I have heard NBA 2K7 is supposed to be the best out of all the basketball games. It uses the motion control to shoot free throws, you hold the controller like you shooting a basketball and flick your wrist and the player shoots the ball.By the way did you know the PS3 could do this http://ps3.ign.com/articles/748/748255p1.htmlEDIT: and another Motorstorm note I just came accross it was delayed, it was originally going to be released in January but I was pushed back so thats just more development time to make it even better than it is. Sega Sports doesn't even come close to comparing with EA. EA Sports is the president for all sports games and I don't think that will change for a long time. Don't waste your money on anything Sega, you'll be disappointed. They just can't make a good realistic sports game IMO. The character moves are sooooo corny and the animations look too fake. If you think NBA '07 is hard, Sega's versions are always more difficult than EA's. If want want evidence just look at Madden. Can you picture playing a different football game? All of the 2K's sucked for football. What about Golf? No one can touch Tiger! NBA2K7 will be the same. That's pretty sick that you can use the PS3 basically as a PC. It looks pretty advanced though. I don't think I'll try it, I've already got a PC and a Laptop setup for wireless so I don't think I'll need to use the PS3 for that.. buck3y3d
First of all, no game on xbox has come close to using the maximum gigabyte capacity, so come tell me when blueray is truly need. I.E. in 5 years when blueray can be utilized effectively a new system will be out.Agreen, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Madden engine on 360 and PS3 are the same. So you played the same game on a different system. Essentially, don't let price be the determining factor because the advantages to the ps3 in my opinion do not outweight the cost. The PS3 is a steal for HD nuts, like me. The fact that it's Sony, the best game system, is the icing on the cake. I would assume that it's the same platform, but it is still sooooooo much different! The XBOX just can't get the controls right. The playaction is different, the hot routes are different, all the shortcuts on defense are different (if not even available), the way the ball carrier runs is different (corny looking), THE GAME IS DIFFERENT I'm telling you. I've been playing Madden for a long time; from Sega to PS1 to PS2 and even tried it in XBox and XB0x 360. The transition from all of the old systems to the playstation's are so much smoother to me. When I've played Madden, or any other sports game for that matter, on an XBOX system, it's alien-ish to me. I can pick up any game on playstation and have the controls figured out very quickly, on an XBOX it's not the same case. It takes me several minutes to figure out everything and I still get confused. The idea of the blueray is exactly like you mentioned. That's why this system is built for the future. It's literally before it's time. We won't need another system in 5 years. Maybe that's why the XBOX games are crappy if they're not even using a full disc space.
Whur CHad At?
who cares about all of this crap... I know the blu ray is a good deal and all but I aint gonna spend $600 for it. Besides Blu Ray movies are expensive as hell. I just like to play games, and that is what video game consoles are suppose to be. I have an Xbox 360 and it is tight as hell. I played the PS3 and it is the same as Xbox 360. But I aint gonna dog the PS3 completely, it looks like it will have pretty cool games, but it doesnt have Halo, thats why I wont buy it. Too many little kids talking s**t. When you compare the PS3 to the 360 side by side, the PS3 is the better deal and actually cheaper. One advantage Blu-Ray has over current DVD is they have a scratch resistant surface. ( http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=47645 - whole thread talking about the protective surface) From Wikipedia:"Hard-coating technologyBecause the Blu-ray Disc standard places the data recording layer close to the surface of the disc, early discs were susceptible to contamination and scratches and had to be enclosed in plastic caddies for protection. The consortium worried that such an inconvenience would hurt Blu-ray Disc's market adoption.[2] Blu-ray Discs now use a layer of protective material on the surface through which the data is read. Both Sony and Panasonic replication methods include proprietary hard-coat technologies. Sony's rewritable media are sprayed with a scratch-resistant and antistatic coating.[3]TDK also announced a way to remedy the problem in January 2004 with the introduction of a clear polymer coating that gives Blu-ray Discs substantial scratch resistance. The coating was developed by TDK and is called "Durabis". It allows BDs to be cleaned safely with only a tissue. The coating is said to successfully resist "wire wool scrubbing" according to Samsung Optical technical manager Chas Kalsi. It is not clear, however, whether discs will use the Durabis coating or if the use of the coating will prove too expensive.Verbatim announced in July 2006 that their Blu-ray Disc recordable and rewritable discs would incorporate their hard-coat ScratchGuard technology which protects against scratches, abrasion, fingerprints, and traces of grease.[4][5]"Everyone seems to have their own version of the hard coating. It seems that the necessity of a hard coating has actually become a benefit for bluray format. And yeah the PS3 doesnt have halo but it has Resistance which is pretty close. agreen_112
Oh really? Resistance is that type of game? That's pretty sweet. I'll have to check that one out.
johnson85
Yeah the reviews have been really good for it, IGN gave it a 9.1, playstation magazine gave it 9.5. I remember hearing in a video review that driving the jeeps and stuff reminds you of driving a warthog. They said it takes something from all the good FPSes out there and does it just as good if not better. They said its like a cross between half-life 2 and Call of Duty. Not a bad mix. If the USB controller has rumble (Some USB's are exactly like the dual-shock), it will work with your old PS2 games on the PS3. There is so much you can do with this system, it's crazy. Remeber how you posted the link about how to make your PS3 pretty much a pc with linux as the OS. Well, there's peolple already working on ways to optimize that and get it to where you can turn your PS3 into an arcade with emulators and thousands of games.
