Bengals Nation Weekly

239 days!! That is how long it has been since we played Pittsburgh on that awfull day at Paul Brown Stadium. 239 days of worrying, agonizing, and speculating as to what the upcoming season would hold for our beloved Bengals. Sunday all that ended and I think that the entire world found out what type of football team the Bengals are 239 days later!!!!!

The day started like any other(except fo the fact that I was a little sick to my stomach with nerves) The Dayton Bengals Nation started arriving in the Talegators parking lot around 11:40. This is our weekly 20 minute tailgate session. We were all standing around and showing off all of our newest Bengals gear that we picked up for the big game. Whether it was a new pair of beads, a hat, nail polish or a belly button ring we all loved sharing the latest finds!!! Eventually we get let in and C.C. (yes he really does exist) leads the charge to the DBN section of the bar where we proceed to make ourselves at home and move the tables around to our liking. I was pretty excited with the turnout that we received for the game. I tried to do a general headcount to see what the numbers looked like and I think we were right around 55. It makes it tough to find a place for everyone to sit with that many people but we seemed to manage ok. Monumentaltiger, the tear away doll and the rest of her crew had to sit a little further away than I would have liked but we still made sure to include them in the high fives!! As mayor of Munchkinland I strolled around and chatted with as many as I could. Then someone walked up to me and wanted to chat. Dave Larson from the Dayton Daily News arrived and had some questions for me about why it is we do what we do. His article will be on the culture of going to sports bars vs. staying home. He seemed pretty happy with my answers and decided to go talk to the rest of the DBN and ask some questions. The article will appear in the Go section of the DDN on October 13. ( just three days before someones birthday )

It was great to meet so many people that I had only seen on the boards!! The family turnout is great. That really adds to the excitement. I enjoyed seeing the children get excited when the Bengals would do something good!! Although good things were hard to find for the Bengals on this day.

The DBN was sitting on their hands for quite awhile due to the lack of offense, well, and defense but it was Wild Turkey and Jack Daniels to the rescue!!!!!! Rally shots were ordere due to my firm belief that hats were only meant to be worn one way!!!! After the rally shot, things started clicking for our Bengals. Then, as if "I was magicall" I called for a blocked field goal and *POOF* it gets blocked. Magically delicious!!!

The Bengals decided to go into the half looking like the may turn things around. So more buckets O' beer and wings were ordered and we continued chatting it up as the Talegators staff did their best to try and keep up with our goup!! All in all in ended upworking out even though we didn't have the regular "waitress"

Angela found us a new member sitting at the bar!!!! He decided that he just had to be a part of the rowdiest group in the bar! As the second half kicked off we continued to swill away hoping that "In Marvin We Trust" would hold true!!!

Well, there is no need to recap the entire game because as all of you know.....We beat some Steeler butt !!!!!!!!

It was great to high five everyone (heck I even got a few hugs ) and be able to run around the bar waving a large Bengals flag and chanting Who......Dey...Who....Dey!!

It was a great day to be a Bengals fan and an even better day to apart of the DBN. This was the most fun I have had watching a Bengals game ( that I didn't go to) in years. I believe it was the combination of great people and all our different personalities meshing together to root for the Bengals. At times we were "not sure if were having heart attacks or orgasms or both"!

This is just the beggining for the Bengals and for the Dayton Bengals Nation.

That is all for this week and I will end this by saying thank you to everyone for making Sunday a day I will remember for a very long time!!
