Carson Palmer shredded his knee last season. He injured himself before during his career in the Patriots game of 2004.

To be an elite quarterback, you have to stay healthy. Has Peyton Manning or the former great Brett Farve experienced such damaging injuries in their time? What about Joe Montana, Tom Brady, or Troy Aikman?

I know Kurt Warner suffered a series of injuries during the Rams run and after being let go to other teams.

What of John Elway? Steve Young had the concussion years near the end.... Can Carson become victim to the career-threatening "reoccuring injuries"?

Let's hope not but what are your thoughts? Maybe he is too tall or to much of a stand-up pocket passer. Maybe he stays in the pocket when he shouldn't? Maybe, god forbide, he is cursed!

Gap -

I'd be more than happy to agree with you, but what's your point? Is Greg Cook the best QB the Bengals have ever had? Is Fran Tarkenton onlly worthy of HOF consideration 'cause he played for 37 years?

Phil Simms had an interesting observation during Sunday's game - Carson changed his delivery on his 'fastball' (bent leg vs. straight leg) to better withstand low blows. Are elite QB's all bent leg guys?

It's way to early in his career to discuss Carson's legacy - but longevity can be more important than your QB rating in the eyes of Canton.

Carson has changed his stance this year. They broke it down during the Steelers game. He used to keep his left leg straight, but now he keeps it slightly bent so the knee will give without getting demolished when he gets hit.

Nah, stuff happens. Some guys get lucky, some don't. Marino struggled with Achilles problems for a while. Favre has had a string of minor injuries. Aikman and Young, if you don't remember, were in fact both forced to retire due to concussions.

Basically, it's a lucky QBs who can play 15 years and not have a major injury. You might make a case that to be a great QB, you have to be talented and lucky. Not sure I'd disagree. But I don't think this is something that's going to linger with Carson. He should be fine, and personally, I don't believe in curses. I am glad he's changed his stance though.

The stance change is what I was aiming at here. It seems two different knee injuries stands out more than a concussion (Aikman/Young) or injured hand (Warner/Rothlisberger). Not that Ben is someone in the running for the HOF but he did get that ring. Here is to hoping these injuries have occured closely enough together that another major injury won't take place for some time.

I don't believe in curses actually. I do believe in a bad turn of events (unlucky).
