redsbengalsbucks
During my 12 day vacation in Florida, I kept a vigilant eye out for NFL gear and I am happy to say that for the first time in my life I saw more Bengals gear than any other out of state NFL team. The only team that came close was Pissburgh and that is understandable them being SB champs and all.I even had a family of 5 (all decked out in Bengals jerseys) notice my Bengals hat and yell out WHO-DEY, I promptly replied Gonna Beat dem Bengals.I was disappointed in the OSU gear that I saw, it was lacking to Tenn, OK, Texas and Georgia, Tenn, Texas and Georgia I can understand with Texas being the champs and Tenn and Georgia being closer to Florida, but OK, come on.The best situation that I had was a guy come up around me to see what my hat said (it just has an NFL logo on the back), than put his head down and walk away. I had to walk over closer to him to see what his shirt said, because I had just caught a glimpse of him before he walked away. He was a Pissburgh fan and would not even look me in the eye, guilt from winning dirty I assume. This nonsensical post is now at an end!WHO-DEY
ArmyBengal
This why I don't understand why there wasn't a push to field a winning team here much earlier than the Marvin Lewis era. It's been proven that Bengals fans will buy up EVERYTHING in sight if the Bengals are winning. Some of us will buy it regardless, but look at last year... 11-5 and you had everyone under the sun in Cincinnati buying up EVERYTHING !!!WHODEY !!! bengalboomer7
I live in Northern Ohio(mansfield) and the place seems to be pretty split among Browns and Steelers fans. But this summer, I was a lot of bengals gear around town. I did have a couple of people that I think were just wearing it(i yelled Who Dey and all I got was a funny look) but there's fans everywhere. When you're winning it's just easier to wear in public I guess
ArmyBengal
Yeah, it's funny when you see someone in a Bengals jersey and when you yell "WHODEY" (I always do) and they look at you like you're speaking Greek to them. It makes me want to take their jersey away !!!WHODEY !!!

It makes me want to take their jersey away !!!WHODEY !!!I saw two kids (both around 8 years old) inside a convenience store in northeastern Kentucky, one had a Palmer jersey and one had a CJ jersey and I yelled out Who Dey to them but thought they wouldn't understand and look at me like I was stupid but both yelled Who Dey back at me immediatly. Tears nearly came out.
lando griffin
It's fun to be able to wear the gear out, but I'm really getting tired of bandwagon fans. The same ones who made fun of me for getting super excited when Marvin came and insisted things wouldn't change. Now they try to be fans. s**t, my older sister, who just returned from Boston, has never been a fan and was wearing a bengals hat before the GB game and told me she was going to the store to get a bengals license plate holder thing. I say, "Why are you getting that, you've never really liked them?" She says, "the Bengals are cool". I say "Bandwagon". She says "You're a jerk!" It just really makes me mad when they know next to nothing about the Bengals roster etc. and act like they're die hards. If we ever have a losing streak I'm gonna freak out when people say these are the same old Bengals.
ArmyBengal
Fans are fans... Some stick with it and some are occasional, but I get what you are saying about the bandwagon fans. They are the ones that get annoyed, when you cheer for the game at your local bar, because you are making to much noise !!! Have I brought that up before ?? God that still just pisses me off to no f*cking end !!!WHODEY !!!

I look at it on the bright side though. It is better than see all squeeler jerseys out. I love all the Bengla stuff out I see now! Keep it up people!WHODEY! derekshank
You can't blame the fair weather fans. I'm not as big a fan of baseball, so I'm fair weather when it comes to the Reds. I was really paying pretty close attention to them until the went on this latest road trip... and now I'm back off the band-wagon.There are casual fans... and while it's somewhat annoying that they come out of the woodwork when the team is finally successful, it's true with everything. Some people don't want to spend $150 to go watch a bad product... and that is what we had for 15 years. Lets just celebrate the fact that it's over.Personally... I just show people my Palmer jersey that was the old uniform style. It's proof that I bought it before we were a contender.

aaronburr
Not to defend clueless bandwagon fans, but there is another possibility....Labor Day '05, I flew from L.A. to Cleveland wearing my "85" jersey. Heck, we were coming off two 8-8 seasons, I was proud. When I got to the car rental place, the attendant referred to me as "Chad" and I had no idea what he was talking about. I completely forgot that I was wearing the jersey. I also don't think twice about wearing my Bengals hat around town, so if somebody were to give me a "Who Dey!" it would probably take me a moment to figure out why that stranger was even talking to me.Just a thought.
