Palmer - model of determination

Flash back to 1995. Living in Pittsburgh, I recall vividly when Rod Woodson went down in the first game with a torn ACL. I remember that the Steelers did not put him on IR as he was determined that he would be back for the SuperBowl, should they get there. Well, they got there as you might recall, and Woodson played. I remember how the entire town applauded and looked on with amazement as this guy worked incredibly hard to do what they said could not be accomplished ... came back from a torn ACL to play in a game only 19 weeks later. I think 'typical' recovery time for this is expected to be around 26-30 weeks.

January of 2006. Carson suffers unquestionably a much worse injury. Torn ACL, MCL, and tissue damage (and I think a dislocated kneecap as well). The timetable for recovery of this is said to be minimal 9 months, and as much as 12 months. Palmer is on pace to be back playing in an NFL game in only 8 months. Will he be able to accomplish this? I think so. Every indication is that he will.

It's time that we fans throw out every applause and kudos to his model of determination to be back on the field and lead us into the playoffs, and hopefully toward a championship. What a story! They were sure to applaud and give Woodson his due over and over in '95/'96, and now it's Palmer's turn. He has shown more guts and determination than I ever thought I would see again. I thought it was next to incredible with Woodson, and we are seeing a repeat of that, only to a much higher degree. Amazing.

Way to go Carson! Many thanks for spending obviously every waking moment rehabing for 7+ months when you could have otherwise rested and 'not pushed it'. You have made every Bengal fan as proud as I can remember. In Pittsburgh, the fans want to find a way to suggest you have not guts, no heart, no determination ... and the funny thing is that the complete opposite is true. You don't bother sticking your mug in front of the camera every opportunity you get like a Mr. Benji in Pissburgh. You quietly go about in the most amazing determined fashion. Reminds me a lot of the highly respected Rod Woodson. I could never thank you enough!

Proud to wear the Orange and Black.

no doubt an incredible story. I also think the fans have done an excellent job of showing their support. THey were chanting his name for simply walking on the field the first day of training camp. They give him standing ovations when he scrambles to the sideline. I can't imagine what it's going to be like if he's out there starting the first home game against Cleveland, and he throws his frist TD pass. It's going to be crazy.
