aaronburr
What you guys are failing to realize is, if a team trades for KW now, they are guarenteed to get him for the contract he is in now. If they wait til he gets cut, they get into a bidding war with other teams and are not guarenteed to get him to sign with their team. Not unless the new CBA completely re-worked the waiver system. He doesn't become a free agent until he clears waivers. And even then, what team is going to get into a bidding war over a player they didn't even put a claim in for?Especially considering how little attention KWash got as a RFA. If you have been reading, you would see that the Falcons are mentioned as a possible suitor because one of their top 3 WR's Finneran went down with season ending injury. Still doesn't mean KWash clears waivers to become a free agent. Or that the Bengals can convince any suitors that they're not going to cut him anyway. HoTbOy
I'd be happy with a 5-6th pick for him...he is not a bad player, but I thought he should be better than what he is...
aaronburr
Ashley Lelie and Freddie Mitchell are also recent targets of teams in need of WR depth. It's going to be a while before the market comes down to KWash's level.
sparky151
Lelie has more market value than Washington but Mitchell doesn't. He got cut by Philly which is the end of the line for receivers. Mitchell wasn't in the league last year. I could see Washington fetching a 5th round pick in trade, provided his new team can get him a new contract. The rumor mill claims that Denver is asking for a 3rd in exchange for Lelie, and Oakland is demanding two 1sts for Porter. Offering a late round pick (5-7) for Washington seems like a solid inexpensive move for a playoff contender to make.

And for what it's worth, KWash was hardly in the league last year either.Maybe a contender will be looking for depth and give KWash a shot. I just don't think anybody will see the need to trade for him. If nothing else, compare this situation to last year with Warrick and the Seahawks. KWash might be cheaper, but you get what you pay for. If I'm a contender, I'll give up a little more to avoid having to rely on an underachieving benchwarmer.Ohalete anyone? So I don't think his inactivity last year is really indicative of anything but the fact that he doesn't play ST's. But you are right that his inactivity makes it harder for a team to judge his value. Even still... if I were Atlanta, Philly or SD, I'd rather give up a 5th rounder on K Wash than a 3rd for Lelie or even a single 1st for Porter. Both of those guys are proving to be locker-room trouble. Washington just hasn't had enough of an opportunity in one of the deepest WR pools in the NFL.
