rishipatel
I think they need more of this on the team to keep guys out of trouble, and I'm not even Christian.
ArmyBengal
If anyone says, "Eric who??" they are on crack. As for a Bible Study, I guess it's better than a crash course on breaking and entering...WHODEY !!!
GROIIIDayton
Yeah I want to see Whitworth pull like eric. Just to let you know that isn't going to happen. I really hope they try to get something done with Eric they are nuts to let him go.
Kirkendall
Whitworth at GUARD?????????? He's going to be the guy that replaces Willie, not Eric. Unless I missed something.
Kazkal
Right now hes 2nd team left guard 3rd team left tackle? if i'm not mistaken.
Kirkendall
Holy crap. A 6-7, 340 pound G? Nice. But I still think he'll be the one that replaces Willie. Unless Andrews has made big strides. We picked up Whitworth to replace someone, that's for sure.

HairOnFire
During the combines Whitworth was shown in the pulling drills and the results were mixed. The sight of a 340 lb. guard running directly at the camera was jaw dropping stuff, but Whitworth occasionally lost his footing when he attempted to turn upfield. In addition, most of the player profiles written about Whitworth describe a player who too often plays top heavy and sometimes has trouble engaging targets on the 2nd level. But the idea is attractive because it puts pressure on Steinbach. It also gives the Bengals a potential power player at the LG position that has been filled by more of a technician/finesse player. And that can't be discounted due to the fact that both plays that resulted in Palmer being injured began with Steinbach being whipped by a defender who was known more for strength than quickness. Plus, the coaching Whitworth is getting now could correct his habit of playing top heavy, and the end result would be a nightmare for opposing defenses attempting to stop the Bengals bread and butter power running play. That said, I'm not making too much out of the idea right now. Should Whitworth be needed at either tackle position he could easily slide outside without much preperation as he's played both tackle positions in college...so a move inside may be no more than a way to get Whitworth more reps at positions where the Bengals could use some depth. The_Next_Big_Thing
Aye it just helps him learn it incase where hes alrdy a awesome tackle.I think it will help him become a better tackle by teaching him more finesse to go with his size and strength. Should I not make too much of the fact that they haven't used him much at RT, then?

Should I not make too much of the fact that they haven't used him much at RT, then? Make of it what you will. But of the three positions you mentioned Whitworth getting reps at...only one isn't manned by a starter who is locked up long term. So maybe the fact that Whitworth is getting reps at LG doesn't mean anymore than it does when he gets reps at LT. Or RG. Knowing that, why would anyone assume that he's being groomed to start in the one position that might be unsettled a year from now? As for RT, the Bengals have several players who can fill a backup role at that spot, but are poorly suited to backup other positions. alleycat
Just to add to the mix. Crunutte mentioned on his blog that Bobbie Williams was given the day off along with Deltha (I like the fact that certain proven vets get a break). The person that filled in for him with the first team at RG was Stacey Andrews. Maybe I'm just reading into things, but now that we have Whitworth, one thing's for sure: by the end of training camp we will no longer be carrying around any projects on the O-Line, and we'll finally get to see for sure where Stacey is at (and Keift for that matter).
