Hush. Rudi has been very good on 3rd down for several years now, and last season I think he was the only starting RB in the NFL who converted on every 4th down opportunity, going something like 6 for 6. The simple truth is that the presence of Perry created a perfect opportunity to spell Rudi from time to time, and a designated 3rd down pass catcher or draw play specialist represents the best role for Perry to fill. In fact, when you consider durability it might be the only role he can fill.

so he was good on 4th down...im guessing 5 of 6 were a yard or less. 3rd and long if hes in hes not gettin the rock. everyone knows that.

Uh DUH?!? I don't care WHO the running back is. On 3rd and long, they aren't getting the rock. EVERYONE knows that. What does this have to do with anything?

That's like saying Bush is from Texas. So what?

um i believe perry turned a few 3rd and longs into first downs on receptions last year...im sure rudi didnt.

Dude! How could Rudi convert a 3rd and long into a first down if he was on the bench? Sneak onto the field and trip a CB so Chad could get open? :lmao:

If I hear another guy on here stroke Chris Perry I am going to be sick. I've gone over this a million times, for every good thing you can say about Perry, I can give a valid argument against it. Everyone talks about Perry and "potential" well potential on a FIRST ROUND pick should start developing in his second year in the league. Well here we are in his third year...and some of you are still talking about his talent and "potential." If we are still debating about Perry next year, it will be because we are talking about what guy the Bengals are going to take with the draft pick they got for him in a trade.

:sure:

Trivia Question: In their respective careers, which Bengal running back, Chris Perry or Rudi Johnson, has the longest pass reception gain, and which opposing team did it come against?

Wanna hint? ( It's Rudi, ya' dumb bastidges.)

But everyone wants to talk about the 80 yard TD reception Chris Perry had against the Vikings...that DIDN'T COUNT because of a penalty!

:lmao::lmao:

True so far, but I'd be surprised if Chris Perry doesn't top Rudi on that this year given the TE situation and the simple fact that Perry can run vertical routes like a WR plus run like the wind of swings and screens as long as no one is there to attempt a tackle and he doesn't do his two-step sideways housefly hop that lets defenders close in on him.

Course the odds are against Perry that he'll top Kenny Watson's career long reception this year or any year. And it still seems unlikely that Perry will top Watson's year best for yards from the LOS this year given Rudi is still hands down the workhorse.
