stilldiesel
The Bengals have a fine team and it will be between them and the Steelers for the division. However, the Steelers did not lose that much in free agency. They ALWAYS find a way to replace players and not lose a beat. After the 2004 season (I live near Baltimore) people loved to smile and tell me tongue-in-cheek how sorry they felt that the Steelers lost their 'golden' opportunity to go to the SB.The Steelers had just lost Plexico Burress (a better RECEIVER than Randle El) and the ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE OF THEIR OFFENSIVE LINE. Also, they lost 2001 defensive ROY (Rookie of the Year) Kendrell Bell and had to play a 1st place schedule. (this year the Steelers play a 2nd place schedule) This is evidenced by the fact they recieved 3 compensatory draft pick this year. Plus, they had to overcome being 15-1 and yet again losing another AFCC game at home. The upcoming 2005 season looked bleak indeed. Compared to last year the losses look relatively minimal. The fact that they will do so this season because they "ALWAYS find a way to replace" such players is as convincing as saying the Bengals won't win a playoff game because they're "always" bad. We'll see if you can continue to survive this way. There is convincing evidence, for example, that NE (which has also successfully reloaded after significant personnel losses every year) may be nearing the end of its run. Every year is a new beginning....we shall see.I love it that you Bengal fans think the Steelers have lost something!I think they are even better than last year. Reasons below:-Brett Keisel is a star in the making at DE - replacing your buddy Kimo. He is not as good against the run as Kimo but he is better all around.-We have much more speed at WR with Holmes and Reid - Holmes is a better WR than Randle EL and Reid is better at PR than Randle El- EL is the most overpaid player in the league.-Duce Staley is a better short yardage back than Jerome Bettis!Good Luck beating us - never gonna happen!I agree that Ranle El is overpaid. I don't agree that it's a good thing when your bench players replace your leaving starters, however. Why are you so confident that Duce Staley is going to perform well -- he didn't show well last year at all. In fact, has he been at all productive the last two seasons? He did a good job keeping Bettis employed despite his age. Staley should've beat out Bettis straight up. As for requiring good luck to beat you...whatever. That makes a whole lot of sense in light of the fact that we beat you in December in Heinz. What do you mean "never gonna happen again after 6 months ago."?? stilldiesel
5 or 6 starters?????? Chris Hope, Randle El and Kimo are 3 starters. By the end of the season Cedrick Wilson was playing as much as Randle El and Keisel was playing almost as much as Kimo. I still think a starting WR, RG, RT and ILB at the end of the '04 season was a much bigger loss.
