duus
Another Coach Lewis draft is half over. I have always worn by Bengals 'support-wear' the entire 15 years here in Pittsburgh, but the last few years have made me just a bit more proud ... a bit more comfortable. The '06 draft. We could go on and on and on ... and say nothing more than has already been uttered numerous times over in the other threads. I come to one final thought: As if thinking we fans know more than the professionals who spend their lives coaching and scouting the pro level is not enough, we also have Marvin's recent history to humble us as well. I'm utterly convinced that any stupid old coach can go with a combination of the rankings out there and perform a simple 'draft lineup'. Seems everyone would be happy then. And I suspect that in two years time, everyone would be mad. Why would someone like Coach Lewis not do that and not make the Rucker picks if he was not 100% convinced it was the right move both now and longterm? He has everything to lose. My money is on him. I cannot wait to see these guys surprise! That brings me to the gradings and rankings. Ever wonder why they generally agree? Ever wonder why, aside from the first 15-20 picks, the gradings and rankings begin to blow-up? Bottom line is I think the scouts and coaches know best. When is the last time you remember a guy dropping by 30 or so picks and then becoming a Pro-bowler? Maybe it's happened ... and I'm sure folks will jump on that one. But I just say if you look around the league any given draft, you will see picks that 'are questionable' according to outside rankings, etc. Again, I say trust the man who has not failed us yet. Let's don't forget from where we have come in but a few short years. I want more. I want the championship. But I will sit back and smile, waiting for Marvin's genious to work itself out.Oh yeah. The "We Dey" thing. I made the mistake of turning on the local ESPN radio station yesterday as the Bengals pick was soon to come. They began playing over and over the audio clip of Cowher and team doing their "We Dey" post-game chant. They played every single second of it. Multiple times. They were live at some local establishment. Everyone enjoyed it. They laughed and chanted. After the pick, they joked about how Joseph was going to be watching the backside of Hines running downfield. They ridiculed the thought of the Bengals stopping Rottenburger and company. Then played the audio again. (who knows what happened next ... I couldn't take the idiots any longer ... turned it off).I cannot wait for the season to start. Sucks that we go to Pittsburgh probably without Carson, but the end is all I care about. Payback time. Can't wait. I have a great feeling that next January we are going to be praising Lewis for each of these moves. Bring it. It's our year.Go Bengals! bengalindian
duus, you need to get yourself out of that miserable s**thole of a town they call Pittsburgh. Come to Ohio where the women are hot(ter than in Pittsburgh), the beer flows like polluted rivers, and the Bengals roar!
